I am not a poet..

Salam..

Yes I am not a poet. I had to give poetry a try as part of a deal I struck with Maliha..I am still waiting for her to fulfill her side of the bargain..^_~

Initially I was not going to post it here but Maliha thought that I should...and after some thought I have decided to share..here goes:

A Journey Through the Deepest Darkest Cavern

Deep, Deep
In the darkest cavern
The vital spirit flowing freely through its interlocking tunnels
It pulsates, the source of life
Throbbing, pounding in my ear

As I tread through my path,
I proceed with great effort
struggling to reach my Destination

I stumble
Almost falling over
but cling to the edge

I look up and see
or maybe imagine
A black vile
A drop
Clinging
Slowly
Falling
Then with surging speed,
It crashes down upon that pulsating red flesh
A black spot, a blemish
Seeping
like that of ink against a white cloth

I feel a burden
as the contaminated vile sinks deeper and invades
Leaving ugly streaks

I feel a heavy weariness
Losing my grip
I sink
I fall
falling
into a tumultuous sea

Despairing
I let myself drift
With the pull of the waves
Not struggling or heeding
Letting them carry me wherever they so desire

The blackness now spreads faster
The black vile oozing like anxious fingers

Fingers of a hand that craves, closing in
Seeking to devour
Suffocating, overpowering the heart
Alas it is almost conquered
Almost,
but not yet.

The waves push me, leading to an
Abyss
I panic
and struggle
To find something that would deliver me
But all in vain
The blackness covers
I am pulled in with out much resistance
and fall in the dark spiralling abyss
Fall and sink

I awake
I find myself
In darkness upon darkness
I rise slowly
Groping my way
in a state of utter blindness
trying to find my path again

A heavy burden I feel
weariness overcomes me
I stumble yet again
I fall to my knees
And cry out:
“O Thou art the Most Merciful
Guide me
Guide me once again on to the straight path!”

I hear a heart beat
It resounds in my head
A tear runs down my face
And falls with surging speed.
The darkness trembles
A clear pure drop falls onto the heart and slowly seeps
Washing away
The tears leak out profusely in an endless stream
So that the black vile slowly recedes
The Darkness trembles again and again
As if infected by a fit of fever
Or a seizure
and shatters piece by piece, like broken glass
So that finally the heart is pure

Unbound and unshackled
Free and unfettered
I find my self where I started
On the right path towards the only Destination

SubhanAllah, that was nice Merimda.  May Allah increase you.  So if *you* are not a poet, then what am I...? :)  That reminds me of that joke:

An famous sheikh was praying late one night, and all of the sudden realized that he was nothing, and fell down rolling on the ground crying "I am nothing, I am nothing".  Well, the muezzin of the mosque walks in, and sees the famous sheikh rolling on the ground, and realizes "If the sheikh is nothing, then what am I?"  So he falls down, rolling, saying "I'm nothing, I'm nothing."

So finally, the mosque keeper walks in, sees the two rolling on the ground, and says "If sheikh and the muezzin are nothing, then what am I?"  So he falls down, rolling saying "I'm nothing, I'm nothing..."

After some time, the muezzin looks over and he sees the mosque keeper, and then nudges the famous sheikh and says to him "Look at this mosque keeper, he thinks he's nothing like us." :)

Salam :)
