When awake is my friend...

How will sleep with me befriend
When awake is dear friend?

Left and right
I am turning
To get some sleep
I am struggling

But,

Rushing here and there,
While managing
This table and that chair
So that everything goes fair

Managing the zeroes and ones
In the account of numerous clients
About these numbers
So eager is my friend
That, there arises hardly any complaints

How will sleep with me befriend
When awake is dear friend?

This restlessness is the result
Of how modern man
With 'timeless time' has felt

There are devices like phone and fax
To make things easy and fast

Yet,

Dear One! We are living
As fearful (of time) as two mirrors
kept in midst of mountains of rocks

How will sleep with me befriend
When awake is dear friend?

All these thoughts make me scare
As if nothing else were there
To make me fear

But you make me humbled to dust
When in midst of your tiring work
Without having proper sleep and rest...

Still thinking of me
As if I am your only quest

Still, playing tricks upon me in jest
Just to carry out a test
Whether in my heart
I am the only guest.

My only prayer is..

May the Mighty Lord
Keep you safe from the envious pest
And beautify more
That shining bird
Caged under your chest.

Since,

The beauty of it once lost
Is a sign of the one
To whom everything is lost.

How will sleep with me befriend
When awake is dear friend?
