| Salaam 'Alaikum I wanted to let you all know about a program we are planning for this summer, insha'Allah. NiMA is Honored to Present: Seeking Sacred Knowledge, New York, June 2002 Scheduled Program Includes · A full day program on the lives of the Four Imams and their methodology, with a mawlid in the evening (Monday, May 27) · A full month of daily durus with our beloved sheikhs (June 2002) Guests Include · Sheikh Muhammad al Yaqubi · Imam Zaid Shakir · Sheikh Hamza Yusuf (invited) · Ustadh Abdullah Adhami (invited) · And more yet to be confirmed Pre Registration Please pre-register by e-mail, so that we may make adequate arrangements for lodgings, child-care, and other logistics. We will keep you updated on projected costs and other developments via e-mail. You may pre-register by e-mail: nima_summer02@yahoo.com. Please include your full name, address, phone number, e-mail, how you plan to arrive (plane, auto, etc.), and how many people will be coming in your party. Those of you who are interested in attending our summer program here in NY are invited to join the NiMA Summer 02 Yahoo! Group. Groups : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nimasummer02/ Scholarship Contest NiMA is hosting a short story contest in anticipation of the program. The prize is a full scholarship to the month long program as well as the Memorial Day gathering. The topic is open, but the stories should adhere to Islamic standards as far as language and mores are concerned. The entries must be double-spaced, in English, no longer than 4,000 words, and previously unpublished or accepted for publication. Your name, phone number, address, and e-mail should appear in a cover letter. The deadline is April 15,2002. (Address for entries to be given soon) Qasida Competition Ni'MA is also hosting its annual Qasida competition (to see last year's winning entries, visit our website, www.nima-ny.org). This year's theme is "Sayida Ai'sha, Radhi Allahu Anha," one of our Ummah's pre-eminent seekers and disseminators of knowledge. Entries must be in English, and no longer than 40 lines. Deadline is April 15, 2002. You may send these entries via e-mail to nima_summer02@yahoo.com. Entries must be attached in MS word (.doc) format, or cut and pasted into the body of the e-mail.
