Hi All,

Just wanted to let everyone know that tonight's episode of the show 7th Heaven deals with the issue of intolerance towards Muslims in America.  It's on at 8pm on WB.

Peace,

Sparrow

Hi Sparrow!

you know, i saw this thread beforehand and i didn't read it because now that i've started school again, i have to selectively chose what threads i want to read....

BUT...my sister was going through some channels and then told me there was this thingy about these kids harassing a muslim girl and then i was like "oooohhhh! that's probably what that thread was talking about" because it was 7th heaven...

So even though i didn't find out from you, i just wanted to say thanks for letting us know! that was greatly appreciated :)

okee dokee! take care of yourself =)

Alhamdulillah it was a VERY positive show...we all should write letters to them :)

there was another thing about a muslim hijabi girl on another show, the one on CBS, the education of max bridford or something of that sort, i think i made up the bridford part, hehe! but that was also a positive show, alhamdulillah!

see, things like this really make me happy =)

anywho, i gots to jet, take care all!

Wassalamu alaikum

I will defintely email or write or something. My reactions to the show?  overall they brought the general issue up very nicely, for the most part, it was very politically correct. One question though? is 7th Heaven always that cheezy? my parents were saying how much it resembled a modern day Brady Bunch show.. but it's all good :) at least they producers were considerate in creating this episode..

I watched the show for the first time too. I thought they did a good job with just an hour time limit.

I am kind of glad that she did not get accepted into the private school. Perhaps a little reverse pschology in play! those watching will not want to be like them!

One thing I noticed was the mom's nail polish and the Reverand rubbing her back at the door -makes me wonder what kind of editing and proofing goes on before airing the show. You would think they would pull in someone to point stuff out.

Asalamu Alykum Wa RahmatuAllah,

Alhamdullilah, it was really positive. Kathy i noticed the same thing as well , the nail polish thing I didn't really care but the rubbing the back was very subtle , i guess one had to closely observe to notice it. However, the overall show was good and definitely politically correct!!! he he and cheezy :)
The MuslimHater thing i thought was kinda funny :)

I thought the show was very good and educational.  The people portraying Muslims in the show did a good job, alhumdullilah, and at least they didn't have an accent.  I noticed the patting on the back too, and thought that was a little disappointing.

(This baffled me)
 The little Muslim girl irritated me, not just ruthie ;). Her scarf was askew, she was hiding out in the Camdons Garage w/the help of annoying ruthie, and when she was found out by the family and told her sad story about walking home from school and getting bullied they asked, "why not take a different route"? she answered "cuz I dont wanna hide in fear being a victim! ???
~~~
 The mother in her tight fiting clothes, scarf above her bosom with aparent yet subtle makeup, smiling and laughing in front of the "reverend". And of course the final straw
(((pat pat on the back))), Talk about taking so many things of Islaam and throwing it away, I am talking about basics of Islaam........
~~
The "Imam" with his lil gotie and shakespear dialoge.
~~
And lets not forget the end; Kaffirs and Muslims Holding hands being friends.......
I believe that was the worst thing I have seen on T.V. about Muslims. They just took our rules and flung em' in the dirt.....
My Humble Opinion
Jenna, I agree with what you said about the rest of what you wrote.
However I thought this line was powerful.
I felt this way (Ruthie's statement) too. I refuse to change my daily activites and become the victim.
Somewhere on this message board about removing the scarf after 9/11, are the stories of sisters- including me- who refused to be victimised.
salam,
yes the mother had makeup on, nails done, but her clothes were halal alhumdulilah.. if thats tight then i a shirt and pants must be like another layer of skin...
non muslims and muslims can hold hands, it just better not be co-ed...
 Her clothes were adhering to her body and her Hijaab was above her bosom and that is Haraam.
 They way they made it seem at the end was like Christians and Muslims coming together and being one.. And we know that can never be.
Just my lil ol' opinion
 When I said I was baffled, I meant that; The lil girl was hiding in someones garage, and when asked why not do something different, she said I don't want to hide in fear.....That just seemed a lil contradictory.
 Yes I too refused to remove my Hijaab, Niqaab etc.. due to 9/11, I felt that Muslims during the time of the Prophet (saw)had to go through worse torture and they still kept practising. SubhanAllah!
May Allah help us all Ameen!
