HOUSTON -- A Houston-area man remained hospitalized Monday after stabbing his son to death and then turning the knife on himself, authorities said.

Harris County sheriff's deputies responded to three 911 calls made from one residence within a two-hour period early Friday afternoon, but left after the first two calls when they found the house locked and no one answering the door.

After another call, sheriff's Sgt. James E. Parker said it was clear that someone was in the house at 5519 Linden Chase Lane in northwest Harris County.

Parker said "we were prepared to make a forceful entry when we returned the third time."

But this time, deputies responding to the call found the front door ajar.

When they entered the house at 1:15 p.m. Friday, they found Osama Nasir, 6, dead of multiple injuries from sharp force.

His father, Mohammad Nasir, 41, was bleeding from a slashed neck.

Mohammad Nasir was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Monday.

Officials said the physical evidence at the scene led them to believe that the father had attempted to take his own life.

However, they said they knew of no motive for the killing.

Neighbors were shocked.

"Children are precious and if they had a problem, they should have called someone, taken counseling or something," said Donald Jones, a neighbor.

Neighbor Mahlood Iquean tried to get to know the family.

"We went to their house once or twice and (it) looked like they didn't want to have interaction with the neighbors," Iquean said. "They just wanted to stay alone."

However, Osama was outgoing with other children in the neighborhood.

"He (Osama) was so nice and really gentle," said a young neighbor who did not want to be identified. "I will never forget him. I will not forget what his dad did to him either."

"That (Osama) was the only friend we had around here," said another young neighbor. "It's sad, very sad."

Nasir's wife was staying with relatives.

No charges have yet been filed. Officers said that they hope to speak with Nasir soon.
