Baby Fat!! I still have it – well actually I don’t know about whether it is left from having babies or because of my love of chocolates  :)

After my first born I was back at my pre-preg weight (***lbs – I can’t even believe I was at this weight now ) I guess the main reason was that at that time we were living in a two story house and I had to do lot of climbing up and down the stairs  .
After my second born I didn’t get back to original weight but it wasn’t bad.  But now my younger one is almost 5 and I definitely need to loose “some “ weight. I think I am growing with my kids :) .

I need ideas too!! Tae boo didn’t work or rather I didn’t work (I thought that by just watching the video, sitting on a couch I will reduce weight ??? ) -We have snow so walking is not an option, HELP before I turn into “ Willy the Whale” of free willy or maybe I have :)

As salamu alaykum,

Tq, snow is no excuse for not walking.  All that you need to do is bundle up and wear boots.  On Saturday I was at the beach with my parents walking.  Man was that cold. My husband is not too into walking, although my dad can get him out of the armchair occasionally.

I have an excercise bike.  Al hamdu lillah it helps, even if it is just about me being in better shape.  What you need to do is find a routine for you.  Don't make it too long, but something that is realistic.  Right now because I start school tomorrow my goal (insha'Allah) is to just bike 1/2 hour a day so that I'm in better shape.  You have to be practical or you'll never start.

As salamu alaykum

Diet and exercise explained.
Finally.

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it, don't waste them away on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat a chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable).

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body, and you have body fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain - Good.

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: You're not listening. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: What's the secret to healthy eating?
A: Thicker gravy.

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had.

Thanks Marice – I think I needed that
I got an email from my sister basically saying the same thing (she is older then me, taller then me and have more kids then me but weigh less then me!!)
Actually I do enjoy walking but I am very scared of dogs and my husband has a crazy work schedule so he can’t walk with me.  But anyway Inshallah I will start soon .... but I just read Kathy's post :)
Thanks

Some theories to share
:)

1.   Equal amounts of water and food = healthy diet and great metabolism :)

2.  Our metabolism works when we eat.  So, if we don't eat and diet away blah blah blah, our metabolism is not going to work.  That is why, when we get fed up of the diets and we start eating "normally" again, our metabolism is sluggish.  Hence, we can't work the fat away.

3.  When we don't eat regularly (to me regularly is every 2 hours ;-D), our body stores the fat from when we DO eat, because it is not expecting food to follow soon.  So, it doesn't pay to keep yourself away from food, your body is more inclined to store the fat!!!! that way.

Conclusion: Eating makes your metabolism more efficient :), easier to lose the excess fat ;)

Eat Eat Eat...5 small meals...or better still...every 2 hours! :) ;-D

The fact is, as mothers we are the last ones to eat or at times even don't have time to eat....we are not doing ourselves any favours this way :)

OK, done with the theory now ;-D

[slm],
Great tips Kathy,u know what u said made a lot of sense to me ;)except you forgot to explain just one question:
Q: Is it true that eating too much cakes /biscuit /and other dessert ruin my diet and is unhealthy?
A:As with all diets you need to take the ingredients into account e.g. a basic cake will have eggs, milk , sugar and flour and maybe a little butter.so eggscome from chicken and chikens eat grains ,right?
so eggs are infact processed grains which makes butter, milk and cream processed grass. And sugar ofcourse comes from sugarcane and we all know that fruit and veggie do wonders for us.
so go ahead and fill up from your bakery today.:)
LOL.;-D
