JannahRadio FAQ

1.)  What are you guys talking about!!  What is JannahRadio?

JannahRadio is a concept conceived of primarily by sister Hania, who dreamt about it one night.  It involves a weekly radio broadcast live on the air in Albany, New York, and world wide on the web.  The programs vary in length, depending on available airtime, and are hosted by se7en and laboogie

Seriously, the intention is to promote communication between the best and the brightest of our Ummah in the hopes of advancing the deen of Islam and building bridges across cultures, borders, and languages.

The program will act as a medium for the exchange of thoughts and ideas; a forum for advancing constructive and intelligent plans to restore Islam in our hearts and communities.  The hope is that by connecting our hearts, we will be able to overcome the monumental challenges that are facing our generation.

2.)  So, how do I listen?

Its easy, just tune in during one of the regularly scheduled broadcasts by clicking on this link:

http://www.wrpi.org/wrpi.ram

Try it out right now.  Do you hear anything?  If not, you either don't have the RealAudio player or are too cheap to buy a computer with speakers   To get the free RealOne player, click on this link(got that Hajree?) :

http://www.real.com/realone/index.html?src=nodc
then in tiny letters in the middle of the page, click "Our Free Player"

For more information on how to listen, hardware requirements, etc click:

http://www.wrpi.org/realaudio/index.html

3.)  What radio station is this?

Its WRPI Troy, 91.5 FM.  WRPI also has other good programs on as well.  Check out their Program Guide at:

http://www.wrpi.org/guide/index.html

I strongly recommend Democracy Now and Free Speech Radio News, which provide an alternative perspective of World News.

4.)  When is the next scheduled program?

InshaAllah, this Thursday, 1/24/2002, at 10:30PM EST, in other time zones:

Los Angelos:    7:30PM
London:          3:30AM
New Delhi:       9:00AM
Kuala Lampur:  11:30AM

It's entitled "Building a Global Muslim Community".  If you get a chance, please skim through Dr. Sulayman Nyang's article entitled "The Myth of Return & The Muslim Community" at:
http://www.as.ysu.edu/~islamst/sample2.htm before the program.

5.)  How can I participate?

The best way is to not just listen, but get involved in the discussion.  You can call in, or I can call you, and patch you into the program.  Just message me your phone number and I'll call you(yes, even in Singapore!)  If you're feeling shy, just message me you're questions or comments and I'll bring them up.  Finally, try to read up about the issues beforehand.  I'll try to post relevant links when announcing the programs.

6.)  Why are you so unorganized?

Please accept my apologies   InshaAllah, if anyone out there(i.e. Sis. Amal) would like to help in planning upcoming programs, please let me know.  InshaAllah, if Allah Most Kind puts His Baraka in this, it may be beneficial.

Feel free to contact me at ahmadf79@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

All right!!! :)

This is going to be cool inshaAllah.  Cara, don't worry, you can say anything you want.  The topic of the program is Islam and the West.  I think a lot of people have the misunderstanding that Muslims and the West are incompatible.  If you'd like, you can tell of your experience meeting Muslims online, and how we are not *all* crazy, just a couple of us :)  Or you can speak about what you feel about Islam and maybe address some misconceptions that you had about it.  Anything you like, ok! :)

M.F., hmm sometimes there's net traffic where you are, which means you have a cheap modem :) ;) just kidding...

as salaamu alaykum,

Where was everybody?  Y'all chickened out on us!!

It's all good.. the brothers did an excellent job, mashaAllah :)  I love how brother Yunus can school *anybody* when it comes to the texts, brother Dawud's hesitancy to give a straight answer to any question, and brother Musa actually trying to speak his piece this time :)

May Allah reward all of the above, and also of course Fizzo for the time, energy, and effort they put into this..

wasalaamu alaykum :)

Salam,

Silent supporter..^_^

I listened to the whole program for a change..Alhamdulillah it was great..

But a few things:

I think it would have been nice if you had a revert sister on there.

the other thing.. a brother paraphrased a few ahadith and he wasn't sure if they were authentic or not..I think one should be careful here..^_^

and one unrelated question about something Br. lightningatnite said: Are there scholars out there who think that the Chinese are the Gog and Magog? I know there is differences of opinion about this issue.. but I have always thought that the common belief was that Gog and Magog were Turko-Mongolian nomadic tribes from the steppe region..

I don't see how the they can say they were Chinese bc the "chinese" were and are a settled ppl.

Anyway, I thought overall you all were amazing may Allah reward you all for your effort..

as salaamu alaykum,

Lots of crazy stuff was going down because the brothers only expected to talk for part of the program.. they were expecting a lot of calls :)

Cara, it's okay!  No problem.  It would be very cool if you could call in next week though :)

Unfortunately we weren't able to get a sister on the show.. the guys talked so much about the beauty of brotherhood and being with the brothers and so forth.. it would have been really nice if a sister was there to speak about the counterpart of that.. but unfortunately the sisters I tried to get in contact with were not available.

wasalaam!

I didn't have time to listen to the show this week, but this concern that the sister brought up, I had this same concern last week when I heard the radio show.
the other thing.. a brother paraphrased a few ahadith and he wasn't sure if they were authentic or not..I think one should be careful here..^_^
This is a very dangerous thing to be doing and we should be very careful of what we are saying.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 232      Narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Be mindful when transmitting a Hadith from me. (Transmit) only that which you know (very well) for he who intentionally lies about me will find his abode in Hell-Fire.
Transmitted by Tirmidhi.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.109      Narrated by Salama
I heard the Prophet saying, "Whoever (intentionally) ascribes to me what I have not said then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire."

;============

Is this a chance any of us want to take or do?

NOTE: I am not saying anyone is doing this on purpose, but I'm just cautioning people to speak within their knowledge, be sure what you are saying is right about the Prophet (SAW) otherwise you would be lying about him (SAW).  This advice I give to myself 1st and firmost and then I caution my brothers and sisters in Islam.

Jazak Allah khairen.

That doesn't sound too scarey. I don't mind that. :)

Because some of us have a time difference when the show is aired is it possible you could ring some of us earlier and pre-record our messages?

I finally heard last night's show (except for the last ten minutes because I was really tired)!  You guys did a great job!  I agree that it would have helped to have a sister there, but you managed well seeing as there was a lack of callers.  Ever think of trying to get a show on TV?

Julie :)

Jazakallahu khairan for all of you who participated, (including Hania whose good question I totally forgot to ask :), mashaAllah several non-Muslims I know spoke to me and said they benefitted a lot...

I'm really sorry for all my mistakes, please forgive me.  I need to do some serious studying inshaAllah.  Abd al-Rashid, I'm sorry bro, I got your message too late!...man, it would have been awesome to have you on :)
It is that stupid Net congestion- I can only hear half sentances!
Kathy, you were listening and you still didn't call! ):( :(  And Merimda, you even had a good question...I know we should have had a couple sisters on the program, but y'all are too shy :)  Alhamdulillah, thats ok :)

Sister Julie, thanks for listening...although you fell asleep on us... :)

Bhaloo, man I think you should host an interview with Jannah...

Ok, so next show is tomorrow Sat. at 2:30PM EST.  Sorry for the late notice, again. :(  I'm not sure who will be on, it might just be a lecture or Qur'an, but feel free to call in...

It would be awesome to have a UK show one of these days...the new season starts next week, so after that we should have a *fixed* schedule.  Also, I'm working on getting Br. Dawud Warnsby Ali on the program, that would be awesome huh :)...

I guess I read this a little too late, huh?  But, I have the same problem as Eleanor.  It's 4:30 in the morning here when it airs, and with a baby that still gets up once or twice in most nights, I am guarding my sleep jealously!  But, keep posting the programs.  I like listening to them later.  And I like the suggestion about pre-recording messages.  That would make it a little easier for those of us "ahead" of  the U.S. by a few hours to participate.
Peace,
Dawn

I let the time slip by, haven't seen hubby in 6 months and we went grocery shopping last night, then feeding horses. And darn it I had some things to share too. :(  But I will remember then for next week :)

I'll be more careful next week. :)

Kathy, I think what Br. Night Flash (aka lightningatnite) is trying to say is, you don't have to know what's being discussed to call in.

BrKhalid was asleep when the Albanyians so kindly woke him up at 4 o'clock in the morning to be on the show!  Surely he had no idea what was being discussed :)

You just call in, and they (the hosts) should take it from there.

If I remember, BrKhalid asked, "what's the topic?"

Wassalamu alaikum.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. :)  I wouldn't mind doing that.  Most of what I know about dawah I learned from her, she's been my role model over the years.  Its really unfortunate that most of you don't know how effective Jannah's techniques are when it comes to dawah.
