As salaamu 'alaikum sisters,

If you haven't already, you should check out the new novel "If I Should
Speak" by Umm Zakiyyah.  It's really good, barakAllaahufeehaa, and it's
even good for non-Muslims too. (The best I read in a long time!)  You
can find out more about it (and order too) at the publisher's website
(Al-Walaa Publications) http://www.al-walaa.com

SAlaam Alaikum

I read it just yesterday.

It was good. The strength of the book was in showing a non-Muslim girl's (Tamika's) internal reactions to the Quran. That part was very powerful. Tamika's realization that she had racist tendencies, was also an excellent part. The book convincingly (of course I am already a Muslim, so there wasn't too much persuading to do) explained the basics of Islamic beliefs and practice within the story.

The story line was enjoyable, except that in meandered too much for my taste (I was annoyed that the dramatic beginning of the book had nothing to do with the story, or the message of the book).

wassalaam
Sara
