Hair Loss

Assalamu Alaikum,

It's one of the hardest things to admit for an 18 year old... but... I'M LOSING HAIR!!!! WHAT DO I DO?  HELP ME!!  I'm on the verge of getting nightmares of having to put 'grandma's' recipe of eggs and honey on my head or something.

Well actually it's not that bad, but I'm losing hair nonetheless as confirmed by my fairly garrulous friends and postmortem examinations on my comb.  I hope I can nip the problem in the bud and retain this gift of God.

I use nothing but Head & Shoulders.  Not even gel or oil or whatever.

So, again. Help.

Wassalamu Alaikum,
Uzer
HAIR LOSS: Those suffering from hair loss or baldness may apply a paste of hot olive oil, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon cinnamon powder before bath and keep it for approx. 15 min. and then wash the hair. It was found very effective even if kept for 5 min. also.

Head and Shoulders?

You use head and shoulders? That is asking for trouble man! Head and shoulders damages hair! My bro went bold after suing that!

Use a mild baby shampoo, and dont laugh, it cleams your hair mildly without damaging it!

Also to strenghen weak hair, go to GNC health food stores, and they have this product called Shin Men or something like that, eiether tablets or lotion form, and it works, as a bro who uses it has told me.

Hajree, a comb-over is a bald man who combs several strands of hair on the sides,  across the top of his bald head, a bit like what you do

Hardy Har Har...ONE for mujaahid! hahahaha! :P

and btw, your explanation made no sense at all! you said first about the hair being combed to the sides and then you said on top of the head...typical mujaahid response ;-D

Hajree, a bald man only has hair on the sides, not on tope, so what they do is come the hair from the sides so that a bit of hair comes up, across the top of the head! So you have a bald shiny head, with a few strands of hair going across the bold top! Look, just look in the mirror, you'll see what i mean ;)

What's up with making fun of bald people??

Umar (ra) was reported to be bald from the front!

Imam Mahdi will also be bald from the front, according to some narrations, and Allah knows best.

Uzer, don't worry about it bro.  I heard that the more you worry about it, the more you lose the hair!  If any of your grandparents or uncles are bald, it's most likely a hereditary thing and you can't do jack about it!

Perhaps Kashif can provide some words of consolation for you!?  He was going through the same ordeal a while ago.

May Allah make your sins fall off with every piece of hair that falls off from your head :)

Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah :)

Hair today, gone tomorrow as they say...

It depends what type of baldness you're getting. If its the usual type where the hair stays on the sides and disappears from the top, that my brother is MPB: Male-Pattern Baldness, and i don't know if there is any cure for that.

If it is falling off in patches, its best to see your Doctor.

However, if it is the former, i would advise that you visit a trichologist (hair specialist). If the hair loss is caught early enough, it can be stopped insha'Allah as was the case with a relative of mine.

btw. my mum says that keeping the hair shorter keeps the roots stronger - don't know if its true though.

PS just recently i was watching some program about hair loss, and they were saying that even if a man has three strands it can be very important to him (subconsciously) that he combs it over.

Assalamu Alaikum,
a paste of hot olive oil, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon cinnamon powder before bath and keep it for approx. 15 min. and then wash the hair
Thanks for the advice.

Mujaahid are you sure abt H&S?  I know certain shampoos like Pantene are really, really bad.  I once used that just for the heck of it, and the hair loss immediately showed.

Anyway... well I guess it's pretty much true that I can't do much about it.  Next time I go back to Riyadh maybe I'll ask my dad to show me to a hair specialist just in case.

So what can you tell me about acne... LOL!!!

Cheers people.

i think you should massage your hair regularly. and occasionally hang upside doown, so that blood will reach to your hair folicules.
basically try to feed your hair, by eating protein, fish and what ever else is good for your hair.
the most important thing is to make sure you regulate blood to the hair folicules, this will feed your hair.

as-salaamu alaikum,

Brother DO NOT USE H&S!!! Read the ingredients, its just full of chemicals, either used the mild baby shampoo's OR use the more natural 1's:) most ppl that hav used H&S regret it,
Stick to Baby shampoo, coz i use it;) ok, ok coz its the best:)

oh, acne! don worry too much, they go after a while...just wash ur face every day (atleast once). DO NOT constantly touch ur face coz it'll spread and drink plenty of water...

g2g now, got a lesson:(

take care,
w'salaam

asalamu alaikum,

Baldness is passed by the X chromosome

and so the gene comes from your maternal grandfather (mother's father)

My advice is not to use those chemicals and stuff..

Use oil in your hair

Heck the other day, i noticed my hairline going back in the sides...

and i was like, that's it shave it.

Preserving your hair also means no gel, no shampoo that will nuke them, no blowdrying

and the rule: keep it SHORT and NEAT!

try to cover it up and you will lose the game, shave your head and its like you are controlling it.

Are you balding from the centre or back or from the bangs, or from the sides of the hairline (widow's peak?)?

aslaamu alaikum. abdullah,.

Actually I'm just simply losing hair...BUT I have noticed that my hairline has started to recede slightly.  I'm not sure that I kinow what you mean by bangs and widows peaks but i dont think they apply to tme anyway.
