As-salaamu alaikum!
I made some search at qa web site but did not find answer to my
question. Perheps some of sisters and brothers here have read somewhere about
this. In the family if the husband have not enough money to go to Hajj
and the wife have the amount neccessary for both of them to go to Hajj
is she responssible to pay? Or can she wait till her husband collect
the money to pay for himself and her? Please keep in mind that he is her
only Mahram man. And also is the husband ressponsible to pay the Hajj
for his wife or if she has money of her own she must pay her expances?
Is she make a sin if she has the money and not pay for both here husband
and herself as she has no other male mahram?
Thank you for your time!
As-salaamu alaikum!

By coincidence I asked my Imam a similar question recently and he told me that there is nothing wrong with a wife paying for her husband.

This does not exactly answer your question though because whether she *has* to pay is a different issue altogether.

From my understanding of Islam, a woman's property or income is regarded as her own and her husband cannot force it from her. If she willingly volunteers it, then he can accept it. To me, this implies that she would not *have* to pay, but if she *wanted* to pay it would be OK for her to do so....

However, I don't know how this would relate to having to pay for the Hajj if her husband can't afford it...

When my husband and I went for Umra, he wanted to pay for all of it, but I insisted on paying for my own ticket. I think I would feel the same way about going for Hajj. However, this is just my personal preference, that since I work, I should be able to pay for my own Hajj and Umrah if I want to.

Generally speaking though, since the husband is normally financially responsible for his wife, I would say that it is his responsibility to pay for the Hajj...I don't think the wife *has* to pay for her own Hajj, if she has the money to do so.

Not sure about this one... The rules regarding Hajj are that one should be financially and physically able to undertake it..I guess the question is, if the husband can't afford it but the wife can, does this make them qualify under the financially able category ?
