| Assalamualaikum How can I deal with shyness?Is it a bad thing to be shy?by shy i mean not wanting to mix too much with people ,just keeping opinions to myself and being all tongue tied and muddled when spoken too? jazakhallah khair wassalam |

| salam, one of the best qualities of a muslim is being pious! ask for the responding to others -- just keep in mind theyre not out there to kill you, theyre jsut asking you a question, just think ok its not a big deal, i used to be sooo shy too, get all red and stuff (sometimes i still do ;) ) but then when i began to wear hijab a few years back, i noticed that people now recognize me as a muslim and they started to come up to me with questions, so i just learned that its important for me not to be shy, because telling someone about islam is dawah, and then it just went on from there that i was able to open myself up :) im a very loud person now ;) wasalam nouha:) |

| um try to talk to yourself in the mirror everyday and read the autobiography of malcolm x that should give you more than enough confidence ;) salams |

| [slm] Like kiwi25 said being shy is one of the highest attributes to a Muslim woman. Not just being shy though, being modest, respectful, having manners, knowing the limits and boundaries, and similar qualities. Alhamdulillah it's a good habit. But i'm thinking it goes a little further for you. Like Malik said, it's a good practice to do in front of the mirror, or practice to your parents or siblings (if you have any). Try to be more confident and know that whatever they say can't hurt you ;) May Allah (SWT) strengthen you as you live your life and your Iman, and all of us. Ameen. [wlm] Betul |

| as salaamu alaykum, Having hayaa [often times translated as humility and shyness] is a beautiful attribute for *any* person to have, whether male or female.
