assalaamu alaikum There will be a conference held later this year insha'Allah and there is a problem that the organisers often face: the hall in which the talks are held gets incredibly hot - even in the late night sessions. The hall has exits only on one side. We've tried 'mobile' a/c machines, but those aren't very affective. Fans help a little. All i can think of is an alternative: to make water bottles and cups available for the attendees. Is there anything else that you guys can think of? Kashif Wa Salaam |

assalam alikum how about giving each guest a japnese fan (pankha...):) there was this lady in our statistics class who kept on fanning her self dont know wether she was cooling her self down or trying to fan those silly equations in to her head :) Seriously if you are in usa and its winter u can lower the room temp a bit and give the guests a break if things get too hot :) wassalam P.S sorry for not being too much of a help |

Assalaamu-alaikum Kashief i have a few ideas. I dont know about thier, but in the UK we have a lot of "Hire" shops where you can hire out all kinds of things, for 1, 2, etc days, or for a week etc. These are usually for things like Cement Mixers, scaffolding, Water pumps etc, but some also do Air Coolers, like big powerful ones! Its a kind of portable air conditioning unit, where you just stand it at the back or front of the room, and it sucks in air, cools it down, then blows it back out. It does help a lot. Maybe you could hire 2. I'm sure their will be such places where they hire these things, out. Most towns have several places. It will probably cost around $50 a day or something. Another Idea, less practical, is to tell few people abot it, so the fewer turn up, the less the heat! Did you know that a human gives of as much heat as a 60Watt Lightbulb? Also, you could give out ice cold drink, like buy a large box of mineral water bottles, put the box in the freezer, so they freeze up, then at the talks hand them out. Maybe you could give ice lollies. But i think the best idea is the Air coolers. |

heck se7en i don't need to be taught how to stay cool. Man, i'm a trendsetter...! haha! jk. Good suggestions jannah. The buckets of ice sound unorthodox, but hey if they work they're a good idea. We tried the fans but they have virtually no effect (unless you're sitting right next to 'em). I think i'll look into mujaahid's idea of getting industrial strength coolers, insha'Allah. jazakumullahu khair. Kashif Wa Salaam |
