I received this in Nov. Very sad really... but does anyone have any islamic magazines or anything they could send? esp if you live in england or germany as this person lives in Belgium.

Let me know and i'll madina message you the address

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu ;
Dear brother ,
First my apologies for writing to you in this way .
I'm a  3 month old belgian convert to Islam and
I have a very sick english muslimah wife
who converted to Islam along with me and
I would like to ask any  muslims for  help if
they want to!
In fact  my wife doesn't know what I'm
doing but she knows I want to help her
as I allways have in the past !
I'm a devout muslim and a 43 year old father with my
British wife and our 2 children , a son of 13 and a daughter of 10 .
I married when I was 30 and was on one hand blessed
with two lovely noisy kids - my youngest one , my
daughter goes twice a week now to the mosque in the
weekend ! - and on the other hand I was struck
with two tragedies : the suicide of my mother
who had been depressed since the early 80's and
the sickness of my wife ; after the birth of my
children she was struck with an extreme form of
post natal depression : post natal depressive
psychosis ( she was a lot of times on the brink of
suicide ) wich she still suffers from and has
to take a large amount of medication for !
The result of this disease is that I am unable to
go working cause she cannot be left alone for a long
time cause she might relapse and hurt herself !!
Now , I have always believed deep down there
was God and I have allways liked reading and
studying .About three months ago I was excited when
the BBC announced Open University was going to do a
series of documentaries for two weeks , made by
muslims on Islam and called " LIVING ISLAM " !!
From the first testimonies and programs I was hit as
by many spiritual arrows straight in my heart
and soul !
Islam was the answer to all questions about life I had
always been searching for and I thanked and prayed to
Allah !
I talked a lot to my spouse and showed her the
documentaries  and she too became a muslimah !!
But we have a problem that is twofold ; I've told
you my wife is british , quiet , because of her
disease not accepted by my unbelieving family and she
knows no-one here , there are no local muslimah gatherings
and she's very lonely ! To alleviate her
loneliness she used to watch all the soaps " Corrie "
"Eastenders " , " Bold & the horrible " ,"Emmerdale"
etc.... but since she became a muslim she sees
right trough them and finds them horrible and
demoralizing ( for instance in the soaps it's
shown that people have to drink alcohol with mates to
have a good time , the adultery going on all the time
what an evil  message to people and especially kids ! )
and she doesn't watch them anymore to my relief too !
But there are so many good muslim books , tracts
and magazines in english like Q magazine or other
english muslim women or family magazines that I've
heard about but we can't afford them  !
So I would like to ask anyone who can afford it
if they could help us with used english language
muslim magazines that they don't need any more or
can spare to give to my ill wife something  to lift her
spirit and guide her ; we have received a few great books
from some english and american brothers and sisters but
they are too difficult for her , one person send us a
few magazines which she devours but most of the books
are above her schooling level  unfortunately !!
So again I don't like to bec but I have no choice ,
please brother if you have any secondhand
material ; muslim mags whatever, anything you don't need or can
afford to give away !! What a pity that for us , poor
and unemployed muslims in the west , we can afford to buy
food but spiritual food like  books , magazines
are beyond our means , please I want to tell you I don't
want to be unemployed but my wife has got a severe mental
disease and can't be left on her own for long and I do
not want to put her in an insane asylum ( I did it once
before I became a muslim for 5 months and she became worse !! )
If we had lived in a good muslim country maybe the family
would have taken care of her whilst I went working but
here it's people looking after themselves and there's no
real family or community life where people look after
each other !
Please accept my apologies for "scrounging", I really
hate to beg  but I don't know what else to do !!
If someone would be willing to send us
something I gladly would pay the postage !
my adress is :

Belgium
May Allah bless you !
As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah.

assalamu alaikum,

I think Muslim organizations should be able to help them out if they contact them.  They should contact the Muslim World League's office in London London
                   Muslim World League Office
                   46 Goodge Street, London W, 1
                   Tel: 6375034 Fax:6375034

or other closer offices (check http://www.arab.net/mwl/offices.htm) for free past copies of their publications. I am sure helping individuals falls under the dawa mandate of this particular organization.

Wassalam
