Wa alaykum as salaam, actually you are referring to the hadeeth nos. 1345.Narrated by ibn Umar: "whenever Allah's messenger {salallahu alayhi wasalam} raised his hands in supplication, he did not lower them until he wiped his face with them". Narrated by At Tirmidhee {who said it is a saheeh, ghraeeb hadeeth}, Abu Dawud and others. The ahadeeth all strengthen each other, thus upgrading the hadeeth to the level of hasan". {end of ibn Hajars' quote}

However, shaikh Nasirdeen Al Albani mentioned this same hadeeth in his book "Irwa Al Ghaleel" which is the authentication of the hadeeth in the Hanbali fiqh book "Manaar As Sabeel", on page 179 vol.2. Whereby he said the hadeeth is deaf. And he divided his examination of the hadeeth into two parts: the first part discussing the hadeeth as far as the isnaad is concerned and the other half he being about the text of the hadeeth itself.
 Concering the criticism of isnaad of the hadeeth, he {shaikh Al Albani} states that the hadeeth is daef is because in the isnaad there is a person named Hammaad ibn Eesa,about whom ibn Hajar himself said he is daef, as he stated in his book "At Taqreeb", and "At Tahdeeb". Also many other scholars of hadeeth such as ibn Hibban, Ad Darqutani, Yahya ibn Ma'een, Abu Dawud and other scholars of hadeeth accused him {Hammaad ibn Eesa} of forging ahadeeth (and this is one of one of the worst catergories a narrator can be placed when it comes to hadeeth criticism). Thus, Al Albani says: "I say: those like him {Hammaad ibn Eesa} who are very weak, that their hadeeth cannot be upgraded to the level of hasan, much less to the level of saheeh. He further went on to point out the hadeeth of ibn Abbas narrated in the sunan of Abu Dawud and the sunan of ibn Majah, whereby the messenger {salallahu alayhi wa salam} said: "whenever one of you supplicates to Allah, then do so with the inner side of your palms, and not with the exposed side,
and when your have completed {making du'a} wipe your face with both hands",is weak hadeeth. The reason for the weakness of the hadeeth is because of a person in the isnaad named ibn Hassaan. Al Bukhari said he is "munkar Al hadeeth," An Nasa'i said that is "matrook -- abandoned," and ibn Hibban said that he narrates fabricated ahadeeth {mawduaat, claiming that they are} from trustworthy narrators.

As for Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Abu Dawud said: "I heard someone ask Ahmad about a person who wipes his face with his hands when completing his witr salah? He said:"I have never heard anything {authentic} about it." {pg. 71. Masaa'il Al Imam Ahmad li Abu Dawud - Questions Abu Dawud asked imam Ahmad}. Imam Malik was asked about a person who wipes his face with his hands after making dua, and he objected to it.This completes the research of this hadeeth regarding its' isnaad.

As far as the matn {text} of the hadeeth itself he then said (shaikh Nasirdeen Al Albani) : "Take note: The author used this hadeeth and the one before it as a proof that the whenever a person finishes his salah or dua' al qunut, he should wipe his face with his hands. Since now you are aware of the weakness of these two hadeeth, then it is not correct to use them as an evidence, especially since the madhab of imam Ahmad is the opposes this act as you saw.

Imam Al Bayhaqi said:"As for wiping the face with the hands after the
completion of making du'a I am not aware of anything authentic from the salaf that they used to do this in their dua al qunut {the dua of qunut at the end of witr, like what we see the imams doing at the end of taraweeh salah during ramadan}. Eventhough it has been reported that some of them used to do this outside of salah {i.e. at the end of the salah}. There are some ahadeeth from the messenger {salallahu alayhi wa salam} that he used to do this but they all weakness in them, and some of the salaf used to act upon these {weak} hadeeth at the end of salah. But as for during the salah itself {dua al qunut}, then this action has not been confirmed by any authentic hadeeth, nor any authentic narration {from the actions of the sahabahs}, not even by qiyaas {analogy}. So it is better if a person refrains from doing it, rather he should stick to what the salaf {may Allah be pleased with them} used to practice i.e. raising the hands in du'a without wiping the face with them in salah." End of his quote. Shaikh Al Albani further went on to state: And it has been established that the messenger {salallahu alayhi wa salam} used raising the hands during qunut an naazilah as he made dua against the mushrikeen who killed 70 of quran reciters {saheeh, narrated by Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 137}. And it has also been confirmed that Umar and other than him {from the sahabah}, they used do this for qunut al witr. However, as for wiping the face with the hands in qunut there is absolutely no hadeeth narrated that the messenger {salallahu alayhi wa salam} or any of his sahabahs did this, thus this is no doubt a bidah. Concerning wiping the face after the salah, then there is no
hadeeth {about this} except the ones we mentioned before. {and as stated} these extremely weak hadeeth which do not strengthen each other by their different chains of narration. This is why imam An Nawawi said in his book "Al Majmoo": it is not recommended {to do it}. And ibn Abdus Salaam said: only an ignorant person does it.

In addition, from among the ahadeeth which indicates that wiping the face has no authentic basis, is there are many authentic ahadeeth about raising the hand for du'a and none of them mentions anything thing about wiping the face, so that shows -- inshallah -- its contradictory nature {nakarah}, and it lacking a basis in the sunnah." End of shaikh Nasirdeen Al Albani comment may Allah have mercy upon him.

As far as whistling is concerned, i remember once asking one of my teachers the same question you asked, and he told me there is no specific ayah or hadeeth prohibiting whistling. Rather the ulama have deducted based on the following ayah:
[bold]“Their Salaah (prayer) at the House (of Allaah, i.e. the Ka‘bah at Makkah) was nothing but whistling and clapping of hands”[/bold]
[al-Anfaal 8:35], that whistling and to a lesser extent clapping, are from the actions of jaahiliyyah. And the least that can be said about it is that it is makrooh (disliked), but the evidence suggests rather that it is haraam, because the Muslims are not allowed to resemble the kuffaar. Hence, the ulama say that say this it is haram or disliked at least, for muslims to engage in whistling.
Futhermore, i have seen some of them use as evedience to say that whistling is haram, the hadeeth that can be found in saheeh muslim under the chapter of:

DISAPPROVAL OF SETTING OUT ON A JOURNEY ALONG WITH A DOG AND BELLS

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Angels do not accompany the travellers who have with them a dog and a bell. And:

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The bell is the musical instrument of the Satan.

And Allah knows best.
