| Assalamu Alaikum, Is it encouraged to fast 1 or 10 days of dhul- hijjah??? deen |

| It's good to do good deeds and fast during all these first 10 days... (but not to fast the 10th which is eid!) but especially fast the 9th which is the day of arafat... it's fast wipes out your minor sins of the year past and the year to come!!! :) |

| assalaamu`alaikum fast as much as u can, with lotsa takbeer, tahmeed and tahleel. if u cant then fast on the 8th and 9th at least, not the 10th, cos its the day of Eid and u cant fast on eid. also do as much ibaadah as u can and make lotsa du`a too not forgettin the Ummah at large. these 10 days are the greatest days of the year so let it not pass us bay with doin good. remember, the reward for a good deed will be multiplied, likewise the magnitude of a sin will be more if its committed on these blessed days. ~*~*~*~*~*~ Abu Hurairah relates that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "There are no days more loved to Allaah for you to worship Him therein than the ten days of Dhul Hijjah. Fasting any day during it is equivalent to fasting one year and to offer salatul tahajjud (late-night prayer) during one of its nights is like performing the late night prayer on the night of power. [i.e., Lailatul Qadr]." [This is related by at-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and al-Baihaqi] ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ |

| slm I am confused. In Saudia, Eid is on 22nd.- If we fast on the 22nd- because Eid is the 23rd here- are we in violation of not fasting on Eid? So for the Day of Arafat- which day- in America should we fast? |
