So brothers what will you be wearing on Eid?

Will you go traditional? i.e. shirwani, shalwaar kamiz or jilbab
If you are wearing a shalwar kamiz will you be wearing a shawl?
Will you be wearing head gear?  i.e. kufi, jinnah cap, turban, saudi headdress, baseball hat, bandanna, or headband
Will you go contemporary?  suit, tuxedo, slacks and dress shirt
Will you go casual or formal?
What color?  i.e. dark colors or light
What shoes?  i.e. bata chappals, nikes, formal shoes
What cologne (if any)?

I have this black shirwani I was thinking of wearing, it has some "work" around the collar as well, and the shalwaar (the pants basically for you non-Urdu people) is white.  Then there is a shawl I have with it that is sort of a pink and oragish type color.  Then I have these formal black shoes that are square shaped in the front.  I would be wearing this with my black oval shaped sunglasses.

I would therefore be wearing traditional clothing, with modern styling. ;)

Bhaloo, it's scary how similar my Eid dress is gonna be to yours :o

No sunglasses here though :)

And no shawl either.

An early Eid Mubarak to all of you.  Don't forget to fast on the day of Arafah :)

Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah.

Eid dress? ??? :o :o :o  Bro, I don't roll like that, its called an eid "outfit", not eid "dress". :)  But I understand what your saying.

Wow, so you are going to wear the samething except no sunglasses or shawl?  Those two things are definitely needed to give it some style. ;)

no sunglasses because i wear prescription glasses :)  (contacts have been bothering me lately).  besides, the eid prayer is indoors here.

no shawl because ... well ... they're NOT in style where i come from :)  unless you're over 30.  hmm .... i guess you're approaching that age so it would look good on you bro :P

Shervani with shawl!!!!

I have never seen anyone wear shervani with shawl (under or above 30)
Shervani itself is very graceful, why you want wear shawl with it ? It is not as if you will be doing bhagra :) !!

Wasalam
tq

PS:I have been asking my husband to wear his shervani, but he refuse it for two reasons 1)it is a typical dulah(groom) type- you know the offwhite type, 2) it doesnt fit him any more :)

Here is the main page for the sherwanis, most of them come with stoles (shawls).

Brother 'Uthmaan sounds like you will be looking very mashallah this Eid, you too Arsalan (naturally cause you will be copying me  ;) ).  Another brother that will be wearing black. :)

I believe galabiyyeh is a Dishdasha or Thobe.  One thing I really like in Arab wear is a black bisht.  Brown is another propular color that you will see a lot of imaams and sheikhs wear during the khutbahs.

Here's a website with one:
http://www.alhediya.com/ligsyrbis.html

I actually convinced the website owner to carry them cause I was interested in buying one, but never did.

I'm a little curious what chaco sandals are and this oud perfume? ???  I have this Nautica/Longitude/Latitdue one, its not bad. :)

Have you seen the item listing under the sherwanis...

"juttis: $85"

haha. Whats wrong with "slippers" or "shoes"? And $85 for those? pffft... allow that man!

Anyway, i haven't done any eid shopping so far. But it'll probably be this mad up black shalwar kameez that no one in my family likes - but it is the best i've come across. Or it'll be this embarrassing shalwar kameez that my mum likes to see me in, which has flairs reminiscent of the 1960s.

The weird thing about desi shoes are that there are no left or right shoe, its two shoes that are EXACTLY identical, they can go on either foot, that's why they are so uncomfortable.  Yeah, 85 is pretty expensive.

And Bro. Hanif your going saudi style on us. :)  Nice outfit, the bisht must look really fly on you.  I don't know about the boots though if they would go with the outfit.  Maybe chappals? ???

What's wrong with sherwanis? ??? They look nice. :)  The stole is pinkish orange, not completely pink, and plus its not a dupatta, its a stole.  Is that any better? ???  I am not wearing bata chappals, I was just wondering if anyone was, LEKIN, it doesn't look like it. :)

bata chappals are Pakistani slippers
a bisht is that brown cloak that people like bro. M wears, it has gold trim down the middle.
stole = shawl, its kinda like a dupatta, only its wider and bigger and men wear it.

Alhamdulillah you're all already loking forward to Eid and planning what to wear! :)
My eids are usually boring so its nothing to look forward to :( so I don't normally plan what to wear until the night before or on the day (which is usually casual-smart)......except the aftershave which is either Aqua Di Gio (Armani) or Obsession (CK) ;) or maybe I'll try Issey Miyake this year.....

Bata is the name of a company in India (Calcutta) that makes shoes, chappals, sandals etc. So most probably pakistani brothers liked them so much that they started calling every leather chappal they saw bata chappal!!!

Salam alaykum,

Its will be a black thawb, omani style with a round collar, and a little tuff of threads hanging from the neck, with a touch of some design on the wrists, with the traditional sarung, lungi type of waist rapper. But above all it has to be encenced, you know our mothers, sisters, have this  pyramid shape like kinda basket, with a high cone made of wood, and what they do is place the basket upside down with the top of the pyramid up, then they put the dress on top of it, drapping it like and then they’ll place a burning home made incense on a charcoal burner, and put it under the basket thing, so that it will smoke the dress and give it the scent of incense, not the usual incense you can buy in stores but these are home made, secret recipes type of stuff called bughur or baghur, and it can drive one, way up there, that’s how good the smell can be. There is another type of Incense used for brides and grooms, and they’ll use it for their dresses, thawb , and even place the burner under ones hair for the Ladies on their weeding nights and after. So that ones thawb, sarung and amamah, or turban are all scented, it beats all the Frenchy perfumes 10/1.
The turban made of traditional wool light beige, pastel with some motifs like. With a cap under it, and the traditional Yemeni leather sandals, a light touch of Atar of some kind to wrap it all up.
The sarung is practical because after Salat people usually get together for lunch and it’s always these big families reunions with big copper like plates of Byriani, xcept our byriani is a mix of Balushi (from East Africa), and Patan like with a touch of Arab ,not exactly like the one form the sub-continent. That’s where the sarung comes in handy, with 4-6 people sitting on the floor around that plate it’s much more comfortable then the thawb. The catch for some people is the heavy byriani end up acting like some kind of a valium:-).  I wonder what they put in there, after those heavy lunch one is bound to drop for a nap.
Then after Asr’,the trip to the graveyard followed by visit to friends and relatives.
