| [slm] Help! I can't seem to post the poster picture. I made a link using some HP software we have, but it doesn't come out. Any suggestions? Jazakum Allahu khairan. | I dunno bro.. I ran into the same problem awhile ago too.. can't figure it out.. I can only assume if it's not a plain photo file.. and is instead something being served off a server or going through another cgi or something it doesn't show up... |

The problem is that the URL of the IMG cannot be so long that the 'http' begins on a new line in the message field when we post messages. In this example, I'm using round brackets '( )' instead of square '[]' brackets: (img)http://www.reallylonguniversalresourcelocation.uma/poster.jpg(/img) and/or (img)http://www.domain.uma/image.gif(/img) WOULD WORK correctly, whereas (img) http://www.reallyreallylonguniversalresourcelocation.uma/poster.jpg(/img) and/or (img) http://www.domain.uma/343/uk45/89/images/hajj/london/poster.jpg(/img) WON'T WORK. [img]http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/albums/islambankimages/hajjseminarlondon4jan2003.thumb.jpg[/img] http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/albums/islambankimages/hajjseminarlondon4jan2003.thumb.jpg [img]http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/albums/islambankimages/hajjseminarlondon4jan2003.jpg[/img] http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/albums/islambankimages/hajjseminarlondon4jan2003.jpg Proof # 1: In the above example look closely and you'll notice 'lond on' NOT 'london'. the '...lond' was exactly at the end of my line of text during submitting this message. Proof # 2: I simply linked the logo off of my website, it's a relatively short url, hence it fits on one line and shows up on the message board. [img]http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/themes/Somara-XP/images/logo.gif[/img] http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/themes/Somara-XP/images/logo.gif And Now .............. Dromroll please........................... [img]http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/images/hajjseminarlondon4jan2003.jpg[/img] The location for the above image JUST fits onto one complete line of text: http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/images/hajjseminarlondon4jan2003.jpg hence we can see it, whereas, the following image location, due to the addition of only FIVE more characters, 'thumb', expands the url to a new line and it WON'T appear: [img]http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/images/hajjseminarlondon4jan2003thumb.jpg[/img] http://tyo.ca/islambank.community/images/hajjseminarlondon4jan2003thumb.jpg It's the same problem I have when trying to put 'IslamBank.Community' in my madina profile, YaBB breaks it and prefers 'IslamBank.Com munity' instead. I finally gave up and now use the silent 'm' solution: 'IslamBank.Com unity'. Now y'know what the problem is, and like G.I. Joe useta say in all those saturday morning cartoons, 'Knowing is half the battle.' | [slm] Jazaka Allahu khairan, brother HIMY. Since I used the HP share to web service they named it whatever they wanted, I probably will have the same problem again, unless I put it on a private webiste and name it myself. It is really good to know the problem and possible solution. Again, May Allah reward you for posting the poster that I could not. P.S. Sister Jannah, I'm a sis. :-) |
