It took you long enough, I thought for sure after that Philly victory the whole Ikhwan folder would have been flooded with Iverson beats Kobe.  :)  Grrr, that was a tough loss, today's loss to the Kings was bad. :(

5). Shaq was injured the first few games and out of shape.
4). Need to create some controversy in the NBA, can't have the Lakers win all the time.
3).  Need to restore the confidence of 2nd rate players like Iverson and Duncan.
2). Lakers too busy getting used to their new jerseys to care about the game yet.

and the number one reason.

1). We take our time in Cali. ;)

When the rockets when 3 in a row then you can start talking some trash,  actually i will even let you when they win 3 at any time, although I doubt any of will be around by then,  (Bhaloo what a poor defence for our Lakers)  and besides we are on to bigger and better things, we have the basketball thing down, now we are on to Baseball for 3 in a row and soon hockey and then maybe we will even get a football team

I thought they were pretty good reasons.  Shaq is the Lakers, without him they aren't going anywhere.  And he has to be in shape, he's getting in shape.  Speaking of Shaq, I just bought some Shaq shoes today, they  are pretty comfortable.  :)

But seriously, think about it, if the Lakers dominated teams like they did the last few years, would other fans of the game still be interested?  Its kind of funny watching you non-Laker fans (Pungaay Baaz, Air Arsalan, Adami, and Nazia) cheering on your teams, thinking they might actually win, and then watching them getting crushed.  :P   So tramatic.   ;D

The Lakers are seeded 7 in the playoffs, and have a better record then the rockets, and are tied with the sixers in the win column.  I think it will take some work, but the Lakers can maybe make the 4th or 5th seed and play Portland in the opening round.

I'm going to wizards houston game tomorrow night Insha'Allah!!

I feel so bad that the wizards temporarily lost their spot in the ranks, but Insha'Allah I just want them to make it to the playoffs for Jordan's last season!

Anyways, should be a fun game....i've never been to  a bball game before so I'm excited!

Yao is a beast.  but im still rooting for my wizards :)

Oh and about the Lakers---have to admit, nice come back.  Kobe is hooking it up big time these past few games, its really helped.  Anyways, but I have to say---3 peat is out of the question. The west has some AMAZING teams--and thers no way the Lakers will come out on top.  Im hoping for the Kings or the Mavs on the west, and of course the Sixers on the East--but who knows :)  I know its early, but predictions are fun :)

Mubarak on the Wizzards winning, it went to OT. :)  Let us know what you thought of Yao.

Yeah, the west has a lot of contenders for the crown:

Kings, Lakers, Spurs, and Mavericks.

I think those are the only teams to consider, the rest of the teams don't have what it takes.  But even looking at these teams, we see that the Mavericks and Spurs aren't on the same level as the Kings or Lakers.  The Mavericks have lost to key opponents.

The Kings have suffered a lot of injuries this year that have hurt their chances, maybe they'll recover.  It should make for a good matchup, Lakers and Kings again in the western conference finals.

slm,

The game was amazing! It was sooo intense...we were up by 24 points in the second quarter..and even in the third we were always leading with more than 10 points..and then somehow..I don't know what happened... but the rockets came back with a vengeance!  Anyways, Yao was a cutie as usual! Our stadium---in the heart of Washington DC---was PACKED with his supporters... Our section was no joke, atleast 85% chinese...So the Rockets (or atleast Yao) were definitely represented.  He was blocking shots left and right---and he's good at the foul line too! Anyways, it was a great game...It won't be the same when Jordan's gone :(

No way about Lakers in the western conf finals---I'm thinking Kings and  Mavs...  and what are you (bhaloo) talking about??? The Mavericks are ranked the highest in the NBA!!! How can they not be in the same league as the Lakers??? Lakers are ranked 7th!! I think its time we call a spade a spade...The Lakers are good---great in fact.  But the west just has better teams....thats all there is to it :)

Basketball is a sport for guys who wear girls blouses. ;D That's been my opinion ever since the discrace called the Grizzlies left Vancouver. Good riddance. These guys thought they were God's gift to the public and media...they couldn't hold a candle to the hockey players in town.

Anyhow, who cares...Vancouver is a hockey town, first and foremost! We did send you guys Steve (the mullet) Nash though...sorry about that!

Its been an incredible season, did you guys see the Sacramento vs Lakers game?  If the Lakers close out the season and win these 3 games, they will have a better record then anyone in the eastern conference and finish up 4th going into the playoffs.  That is pretty incredible.  The champions are back in form.  :)

Bro, maybe it's because you're sitting too up close and personal to her!  Step away a little bit to see the big picture, and you'll see the fat lady singing loud and clear :)

It's over for the Lakers.  They will not win this year.  And now they have something to blame it on!

Fox!   ::)

That shows how ridiculous all the comparisons are of the Lakers to the Bulls.  The Bulls would have never lost a championship because some role player (ex. Harper, Longley, Grant, Kerr) got injured in the playoffs.  The whole reason why they're called *role* players is because they're replacable!  It's the stars that are irreplacable in the playoffs.
They are one game away from facing the Suns or the Spurs.
I really want the Lakers to advance to the second round.   Simply because I want the Spurs to be the ones to eliminate them from the playoffs!  Just so that Phil Jackson doesn't come back next year, after the Spurs win the championship this year, and say: "this year's champion aren't really true champions, because they didn't have to go through us!"   ::)  He's so full of it!!
Unfortunately Marbury is playing injured, so now the Spurs have a chance to advance.  :(   Talk about getting lucky.
The Spurs played a couple of games without the Admiral.  Marbury is in perfect playing condition.  Like your own "Superman" says, if you're able to be on the floor, then quit whining and play.  Don't make a big deal out of a fluke injury!
and what really irks me is when laker fans start comparing Kobe to MJ.

MJ >> KB
Amen, mr-bean!
the only person who deserves any sort of comparison with MJ is Tracy McGrady.
What??  MJ was a 10 times better defender than T-Mac!  He was a much smarter player who did a lot more than just shoot the basketball on the court.  He was the most complete package that this league has ever seen.  Defense.  Agility.  Quickness.  Strength.  Endurance.  Intensity.  Aggressiveness.  Clutch.  Air.  The ability to see the floor, find his teammates, and make them better.  And most importantly, a winning attitude.

T-Mac doesn't have jack on MJ.

Sorry.

Peace out.

Fox!
Many Lakers fans are happy that Fox is injured because Devean George is a much better player offensively.
Its that time of year Abu Hamza, the time of year when your Spurs fold up and get beaten so badly in the playoffs by the Lakers like they have these last few times.  Its still not too late to switch sides.  :P
The Spurs played a couple of games without the Admiral.  Marbury is in perfect playing condition.  Like your own "Superman" says, if you're able to be on the floor, then quit whining and play.  Don't make a big deal out of a fluke injury!
The Spurs barely advanced to the next round, and I lay the blame on Marbury's injury.  A healthy Marbury would have been able to beat the Spurs.  The Spurs demonstrated in the 1st round that they are ready to give up.

Regarding the MJ-Kobe comparison, I think Kobe is a better player then MJ and he has some much more potential to grow as a player.  Although sometimes he feels he has to do everything in a game, and that's where problems happen for the Lakers.  Without a doubt, the best player to play the game of basketball, is Shaquille O'Neal.  At 375 lbs, this 7' giant has one of the highest (maybe highest) field goal percentages is NBA history.  I don't know how people could even claim someone like JOrdan or Kobe is the best player, when both players shoot well below 50% overall.  Compare that to Shaq who averages near 60%.  So I would rate Shaq as the best and then Wilt Chamberlain.  The Laker offense centers around Shaq and at times the Lakers forget (or rather Kobe does).  Just get the ball into Shaq and let him dunk it on Duncan, Robinson, and the rest of the Spurs.    There's no way physically anyone can stop Shaq.  The only way the Lakers season will end is if Shaq gets injured.  Shaq has demonstrated time and time again, that double teams and triple teams don't work on him.

Also the Mavericks are a complete disgrace, having been up 3 games to 0 they end up in a game 7 they barely win.  But on the plus side, I think they are one of the few teams in the NBA that can beat the Kings, so this should be good and make the path to the championship easier for the Lakers.

talk about being used....you should check out the nytimes article about how abe pollin kicked MJ out the door.....AFTER...he engineered a $70 million dollar turn around of the wizards.  The year before Jordan played, the Wiz lost $40M. In the past 2 years because of stadium sellouts and extra television revenue they made a $30 million profit...

i think this is another sign that society will let talented black men make money in show business.....but when it comes to management and running the show....they'll rarely if ever let them through the door.....and that the movers and shakers of society may be nice people on the outside...but most of them are rascists at the core...

Hey, not so fast.  :P  The Kings lost Weber, so I think its going to be be a series now, and I think the Mavericks will come out on top.  After watching game 1 of that series, I was a bit demoralized.  I was like, wow, the Kings are sooooo good, how can the Lakers get by them.

As for the Laker series, here's what I thought about the 3 games so far.
Game 1
Both teams played really pathetic, and after I saw game 1, I thought the Lakers were going to go win the next 4.  The Lakers got away from their game plan, Kobe was a ball hog and tried to do everything by himself, taking on 1 on 2 or 3 people or taking wild shots.  He and the team didn't try to get it into Shaq.  The offense goes through Shaq, not Kobe.  And Abu Hamza must have been scared when the Lakers pulled it to within 3 in the final minute or two.  But without Shaq on the floor Kobe tried to be a ball hog again and drive in on multiple defenders, and that costed them the game.  There was no teamwork.

Game 2
You could see that Shaq was mad and it seemed like he was upset with Kobe's play and that the Lakers weren't even trying.  Kobe once again tried to take things into his own hands but it wasn't as bad as game 1.  The Lakers did try and get it into Shaq's hand and he shot a very high FG percentage.  But I have to admit Bowen played good defence and Genobli did a good job on the offensive end as well.  There were a lot of non-calls against the Lakers.  The Spurs came out to play and we saw a very different Spurs team.  A Spurs team that played really well..  Deavan George's injury hurt the Lakers as well.

Game 3
Devean George did a great job and provided a spark for the Lakers.  The hilight of the game was watching Shaq leading the fast break and going from coast to coast and dunking it.  Phil Jackson's changes to the triangle offense were the key and the Spurs folded.  All the shots they were making before weren't going, and this is the Spurs team that Laker fans have known for the last few years.  Remember when the Lakers went 15-1 in the playoffs and beat the Spurs by an average of 20+ something points a game?   Hopefully the trend continues.  The Lakers need to come out with the same intensity

So the series is tied again.

Spurs: 2

Lakers: 2

Cheer up bhaloo  ;D

The Spurs played pathetic and didn't deserve to win.  However, it's clear the Lakers are completely lost out there on the court without their coach.  They look demoralized and confused.  The Spurs played a bad game and gave this game away.  However, I don't think the Lakers are the same Lakers of last year or the year before.  They cannot beat San Antonio two more times.

Maybe once more.  But that's it :)

It's not in them any more.

I find it amazing.  every couple of years someone steps up and think they have a winning team.  For a couple of years it is boston, then detroit, then philly, then chicago, then utah, then portland, then houston, then sacramento, then dallas, then new york.  But the one constant in the NBA is the lakers. We obviously cannot win them all but,  take a look at the % of NBA titles of any other franchise and it is not even close.  one more proof that so calif is indeed the center of the universe

I couldn't believe it.  The Lakers were down by 25 points, I turned off the game at half time (actually way before then).  Then I turn it on with about 3 minutes to go, and the Lakers make a comeback, and bring the game to within 2 points.  Robert Horry hits a 3 pointer as time is about to expire, the ball goes in the basket and comes out.  :(  Oh man, that was terrible.  The Lakers almost won it.  And a few plays earlier Kobe shot the ball, was fouled by Bowen, but they didn't call the foul.  Also in the end end when Kobe dished it off to Horry, Bowen was in the air, Kobe should have just gone up shot it and he would have been fouled for a 3 point shot.   That was a heartbreaking loss.

SPURS WON!!!!!!

What an awesome, amazing game!  Tim Duncan played like the MVP he is.  Shaq and Horry were both hopelessly helpless against his awesome footwork.  Toni Parker, the youngest point guard in the NBA, tore apart the defense of 3-time champions.  And the Laker stars ... I have never seen Shaq play so clumsily.  I have never seen Kobe so helpless on offense.  I have never seen the Lakers fall apart so completely as they did in this entire series against the Spurs.

At last, their reign comes to an end.  The team with so much pride, so much ego, so much attitude, so much swagger, so much machoness, so much trash talk, finally broke down and began shedding tears at the end of their defeat.  They finally acted like human beings.  They had to accept today the simple fact that they too are flawed.  They cannot just go to a playoff series and breeze through it, putting no effort forward, and treating the great teams of the league as if they're nothing compared to them.  Let's face it, the Lakers did it to themselves.  They let their success get to their heads, and they were finally flung back to the earth to bite the dust ... where they belong until they humble themselves.

Let's see if they will learn their lesson.

Until then, let the best team in the league put on a show in the two series that are left ahead of them.  This is a team which is truly a *team*, with a great team leader (Duncan) who is an amazing player on both ends of the floor, with both finesse and power (a combination Shaq never had), an extraordinary passer, and an extremely unselfish MVP (did you hear what he said about Toni Parker being the reason they didn't lose the lead in the 4th quarter?).  The Spurs also have some of the best role players in the league.  Bruce Bowen, who simply shut down Kobe Bryant throughout most of the series.  Ginobili and Speedy Claxton are great offensive boosters.  Kevin Willis and Malik Rose on the other hand are great backups in the front court and provide a great boost for the defense.

Bring on the Mavs.

Or the Kings.

Victory is just around the corner :)

Stay tuned ...

Congratulations to the Spurs and their fan(s) [Abu Hamza].

But I personally don't think the Spurs are a great team, though they are a much improved team from last year.  The Lakers played terribly this series,  and they had so many injuries, and too much ball-hogging, and not enough team work.  They tried to take a championship team from 3 years ago and make it last and last.  They needed to rebuild around Kobe and Shaq.  Let's get Karl Malone and Scottie Pippen next year and then get back into it.

who really cares about basketball anyways.  The only things that are really important are baseball (angels) and hockey (ducks).

WOW....I was soo happy when I found out the Spurs won!! We were at a dinner party last night and had to miss the game unfortunately...but as soon as we turned on ESPN at home--we heard those fateful words...

"The Lakers reign has ended"

nice.

Anyways, I still think they're a good team, I just didn't want them to win.

So lets hear it...who's winning the championship this year??

I'm going to go with the Spurs

Take Care,
