Who is actually supporting this war?

Momentum for Feb 15th in London and Glasgow gathering pace

A proposed visit of Prince Charles to the United States has been called off, apparently because the American administration does not appreciate his anti-war stance. So it seems that public opinion, church leaders, Muslims, trade unionists, 450,000 people on September 28th, political parties, France, Germany, the Arab world, and now royalty oppose this war. We are forced to ask: “Who is actually supporting it?”

The reasons for this opposition are clear. Innocent people will be killed, and while we wish for a better future for the Iraqi people than the status quo, we do not trust US intentions for the region, as their track record suggests that they will be entirely self-serving.

Those pushing for an attack on Iraq are: Tony Blair in opposition to his own party; the Conservatives; George Bush surrounded by his group of hawks, oil backers, right-wing Christians and Zionists.

To once again make the point of opposition to the war and to express solidarity with the Palestinians, the people of Britain will take to the streets on February 15th. This will mark a day of protest in every European country, with the British leg being organised jointly again by the Muslim Association of Britain and the Stop the War Coalition, with Friends of Al-Aqsa and CND.

Meanwhile Tony Blair will be visiting Glasgow on February 15th for the Scottish Labour Party Conference. There promises to be a huge and lively demonstration outside the SECC, with the world’s media watching.

MAB calls upon all to play their part in the burgeoning movement for peace and justice in the world. If you are interested in getting involved in the Feb 15th demos, please come along to the following meetings:
