For Salah, a great book is
The Prescribed Prayer Made Simple (by Tajuddin B. Shu`aib)

This book is also available online at:

I actually have a whole list of books, tapes and other resources for new Muslims, and for those interested in learning more about Islam, because I always find that when people take shahada they are frequently unsure of which books to get and what not.

I won't post the whole list, but some things which are essential IMO:

A good, reliable book of fiqh (how to pray, fast, etc.)  I recommend Imam Nawawi's al Maqasid, but there are others.

Imam al Ghazali's Inner Dimensions of Islamic Worship--nice and simple, gives some insight into the inward elements of ibadah.  I know as a new Muslim sometimes the stuff just feels like empty ritual in the beginning.  Also in this category go one of my faves, The Book of Assistance, by Imam al Haddad (this is excellent for any Muslim, new or old)

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf's Foundations of Islam--it's a set of tapes covering in detail the articles of faith, the five pillars (not the how tos, just what they are and why) the Qur'an, and such.

Islam: Religion of Life Abdul Wadud Shalabi
77 Branches of Faith by Imam Bayhaqi

There's also a CD which is produced by Rumi Productions, www.rumibookstore.com, which has many of the common du'a, short suras from Duha to Nas, the tashahud, and so forth, recited by a Qari.  He repeats each du'a or surah 3 times for ease of learning.  This is excellent for new Muslims, children, or anyone wanting to learn these things.

I guess that's it for now.
