| [slm] I'm back...nya na nya na nya na nya na nana (supposed to be batman music) I know I know...what was the point of this message? Well, you see...I was stuck in this tiny tiny town in Austria for a few hours. Actually I wasn't stuck...my brothers wanted to see the ski jumpers. (It's not as exciting as it seems) So there I was...walking aimlessly on the town streets...and I thought to myself....golly gee! I wonder if there's a mosque here. And almost instantly, as I turned around....I saw a hijaabi there. I was shocked :o Because not only had I no intention of actually turning around (it just happened), I didn't think there could be any resident muslims in this area. So of course I said Salaam....and since I don't know any German, we were communicating by way of loud gestures. Eventually, I made my brothers miss the rest of the Jump Competition, and we went to the mosque, which was probably the highlight of my few hours in that town. (Oh and they have really nice purses :) ) So anyway, on this road trip (from Geneva to Munich) we found all these little mosques along the way....and it just made me realize...there are so many muslims out there. lol. It was fun. I figured it would be so cool (seeing as I have this mad passion for flash) to do a creative project on mosques all over the world. Not necessarily the famous ones, but the small ones .... I actually have quite a few. Oh and here's somewhat of an aside....has anyone ever been to Dire Dawa, Ethiopia? (worth a shot?) Sooooooooooooo anyway, here's where your help comes in...if you could possibly take pictures of your local mosques, scan 'em, and ;D send them to me ;D .... I would give you full credit for your photography, and I'd find something interesting to do with my excess time. Input appreciated. Wasalaam. SF. |

| I have only passed through Addis Ababa in transit but have met lots of people from Dire Dawa. Would you like some pictures of Masjids from Nairobi??? Not the big famous Jamia Mosque in the City Centre but there are quite a few unique ones (by my standards of course) that I could photograph, scan and send. Halima |

[/quote] Hey, did you drive through Zurich? If I would have known you were coming, I could have at least waved! ;D Or you could have stopped by for a snack or a meal or something! [/quote] That's OK, according to some jokes Swiss like to tell about Austrians, the Austrians can't speak German either! :D But the Austrians have a whole other set of jokes about the Swiss, so it all evens out, I guess. ;) |
