As  I open my door I make this dua "O my Lord! expand me my breast; Ease my task for me; And remove the impediment from my speech, So they may understand what I say (V 20 )....

then I grab the newspaper ;)

I do recite Ayatul Kursi or Khul Huwalahu, Khul Aadhu Birabil Nasi, Khul Aadhu Birabil Falaq.  Liillaafi also is one I do recite.

Which ever I choose, I feel calm.  I do the same when I am going to sleep, especially Ayatul Kursi.

May Allah Subhana Wataallaah guide us accordingly.

But still there are some people who will spoil my morning hence ruin my whole day sometimes.  In such cases, I try very hard to be calm which is not easy for an Aries like me.  My father taught me the value of patience but I not good at it.

Wasalaam.

Hmm I think its not when you step in the office its the steps taking to the office.

Step out of the house, read the dua for stepping out
Sit in car and start and pray dua for safr
Park car, pray Ayatul Qursi
Wait for train pray Quran, in particular yasin and Ar Rahman
On train pray Quran, and read the zionist paper, Metro and liberal paper the 'The Guardian'
On way to work pray tasbih
At office door make dua that Allah give me a better job
At work carry on the tasbih and pray the namaz's
Return trip ponder on life and how the situation of Muslims can be improved, read the paper again, take notes and think of postive dawah

Salaams

I also start when I get out of bed, during Fajr (and try to never leave the house with dirty dishes in the sink  ;D)
When I get in the office I:
Say good morning to our secretary.
With my tasbih in hand, get something to drink.
I then turn on my computer and say:
O Allah, please make this day a good one, make my actions, thoughts, deeds and speech acceptable to you and make me keep your pleasure foremost in my mind. protect me and my daughter and all the Muslims and bless us this day. Hasten towards us the good and remove from us the bad and grant us paradise.

This is how I start just about all days at the office. Usually calms me down. I then turn to the computer and start with email.

MashaAllah.

This is inspiring, brothers and sisters.

I do make duaa while driving to work. Not always though, unfortunately. Often worries of the work overtake my thoughts to the extent where I forget dhikr… and then I get extremely stressed. Then I remember again, Alhamdlilah.

I was going to post this in the dreams thread… but it seems to be more relevant here. One of my best dreams was this past Ramadan. I was sleeping on the living room couch when my bro and his wife were borrowing my room. I’m not quite sure what happened:  I was counting off to myself all the things I needed to get done that day… but instead of being worried I was getting energized; thanking Allah for my long to-do list. SubhannaAllah it was a beautiful feeling; not only because I was energized (that is not a rare feeling for me Alhamdulilah), but because I felt a strong connection and awareness of Allah regarding all this. And when I woke up, I was more refreshed then I had felt since August (when I began teaching).

To answer your question Br. Jaihoon, I normally put my things down and put the classroom desks in order.

Wassalaam

I also work as a teacher. And dealing with kids in the South Bronx, New York, you'd need to make lots of du'as cause you never know what's gonna happen. I often say "La Hawla wa La Quwwata Illa Billah."

But in the morning, after doing my wird after fajr, I step out of the house and say "Bismillahi Tawakaltu 'ala-Allah, La Hawla wa La Quwwata Illa Billah." When getting on the bus or subway, I saw "Bismillahi Allahu Akbar." And on the subway ride to work I just read the Qur'an.

These are just shortened version of the Masnoon (Sunnah) Du'as. The longer and more comlete version of the Masnoon Du'as are better and will In Sha Allah bring you more Barakaat. Those small booklets with the Masnoon Du'as for all occastions are excellent and I highly recommend them to everyone here.

But when I get to my school, I just start getting ready for my first class and make Du'a that my kids behave that day!  :)

Fi amanillah.

Salam :)

First thing when I reach the office,

Say salam to my colleagues,
Switch on the comp,
Type in my password *************
(which also acts as a reminder for me to make dua)
[s]Click on the Madinat[/s]
And hope I've got some nice mails to read :-*
At office door make dua that Allah give me a better job  :)
I think I'd try that. Thanks for the tip!
