Kabbah Candy bags

This Eid I thought we would hand make little Kabbahs out of felt and gold ribbon and fill them with ballons and candy for all the children.

Today, to get approval before I made three hundred, I sent an example over to "the powers to be" and he almost had a coronary. Said it was a charm and disrespectful.

Truely i do not understand why. Could someone explain it to me?

Maybe you can tell him the kids aren't going to worship it.  J/K :) Just tell him they're going to eat the candy balloon and stuff and then just put the kabah on their dresser to remind themselves of when they will go to Hajj one day.

I dont want to sound rude so I'm going to say this really quietly *whispers* maybe he thought the Kabbah bags were...tacky?

Perhaps you could make candy bags with Eid Mubarak written on them?

[sub]no disrespect or offence intended.[/sub]

This is what he said. "Kids will worship them." He also said that the kids may throw them on the floor and be disrespectful twords it.

Hey! I am not White Trash! ;)

Really, they came out beautiful.  I made them out of a smooth black felt and sewed in the gold ribbon, like the Kiswa is.

I am going to let it go because for the first time in 10 years they are going to let us do a Hajj experience at the Masjid!! (pending Imam approval) He is the new president and was very receptive to our ideas. So as my Mom used to say... Ya gotta pick your battles!

We spent 10 hours today making mountains and Jamarats!

Wow and I was actually kidding when I said that.. sorry Kathy...true though they might disrespect it.. but if you explain it to them and give them to the older kids ie >6 he just reminds me of every older person in communities that refuse to change. Their youth is almost lost and yet they still don't open their eyes..

Plus I'm serious.. send em over.. we'd love to have them..

MashaAllah sister Kathy,

You gave me a great idea, perhaps next year, inshaAllah i was thinking maybe I can try and make a clay display.

Designing Mina, Muzadalifa, Arafah, Makkah.  Probably can buy toy busses, mini toy tents, slaughtering animals, ihrams, etc. or even i can sew and make them.  This would be a great idea to show how to do hajj for both Adults and Kids.  It would be a very descriptive way of learning Hajj.

Jazakallahu Khayran
