| FBI Raids Religious Institutions in Khanewal, Pakistan Arresting Five LAHORE (AZZAM): 9 January 2003 FBI in collaboration with Pakistani agencies whilst wearing civilian dress raided religious institutions near Multan and arrested a 45 year old Arab named Muhammad Fahad along with four others and have transported them to Islamabad. Together with the five men, two computers amongst other items were also seized by the FBI. These arrests were made after raids which occurred early on Monday morning on Madrasa Bilal Rahmania and Jamat Al Dawah's religious centres in Khanewal, Chechawatni and Jahniyan. The presence of these alleged Al-Qaida operatives came to FBI notice after allegedly monitoring a secret message. Muhammad Fahad had completed a science degree in Chemistry from the USA and holds a commercial pilot license. Muhammad Fahad is well versed in speaking Urdu, Pashtun, Persian and English and is alleged to have undertaken training at an Al-Qaida camp in Kandahar during Taliban rule in Afghanistan. |
