We're all here live in Damascus, Syria having some great pizza and ice cream 8) 8) 8) [] [] :-) [] :-) [] 8) ;-) [] 8) ;-) ;-) :-) [] 8)  It seems that alot of the teams had to pull in some old favors, call some friends of friends of friends and even make some well-placed bribes in order to get here!!!  Looks like the race is heating up!! Well don't worry, no team has used the Fast Forward yet soo there's always more excitement to come. At least all this food should keep them going for the next leg of their journey!!
Good luck contestants and remember your first answer is your final answer!

The riddle format killed ppl huh, so now i guess i'll just be free,
and let you all know that this clue is really quite easy! :)

Now if you were to remember the Sage, you might seek knowledge,
even follow the footsteps of Saad the son of Abi Waqqas' voyage.

So the answer to this part's amazing race, is not simply a place,
but the name of the Sage, which was up there in boldface!

I was looking for the prophet [saw] and china. However I gave half credit if you said Persia/Iran because Saad did make a journey there. If you said china and not the prophet [saw] that was also half a credit. The bonus point however goes to Team Dynamic Duo for the first completely correct answer.

PS- sorry for the delay i couldn't let all that good ice cream go to waste :)

Answer to RACE to Destination #3 from Abu Atheek and Sajida:

The land is Persia to which Saad ibn Abi Waqqas was sent as the Commander and the Sage (Wise) from Persia is Salman Al Farsi. May Allah Almighty be pleased with both of them.

Sad Ibn Abi Waqqas

Sad is mainly renowned as the commander-in-chief of the strong Muslim army which Umar despatched to confront the Persians at Qadisiyyah. Umar wanted nothing less than an end to Sasanian power which for centuries had dominated the region.

Umar had instructed Sad to send him regular despatches about the condition and movements of the Muslim forces, and of the deployment of the enemy's forces. Sad wrote to Umar about the unprecedented force that the Persians were mobilizing and Umar wrote to him:

"Do not be troubled by what you hear about them nor about the (forces, equipment and methods) they would deploy against you. Seek help with God and put your trust in Him and send men of insight, knowledge and toughness to him (the Chosroes) to invite him to God... And write to me daily."

Salman al-Farsi

As a scholar, Salman was noted for his vast knowledge and wisdom. Ali said of him that he was like Luqman the Wise. And Ka'b al-Ahbar said: "Salman is stuffed with knowledge and wisdom?an ocean that does not dry up." Salman had a knowledge of both the Christian scriptures and the Qur'an in addition to his earlier knowledge of the Zoroastrian religion. Salman in fact translated parts of the Qur'an into Persian during the life-time of the Prophet. He was thus the first person to translate the Qur'an into a foreign language.

Greetings from the Huaisheng Mosque in Guangzhou, China

we are having a lovely time.
Barr is complaining about blisters on her feet from walking on the wall some of the way   <http://www.jannah.org/board/images/rolleyes.gif>

oh yes! and the Sage is of course our beloved Muhammad   <http://www.jannah.org/board/images/saw.gif>

Here's an excerpt from a guidebook which we just picked up: (Get off Barr, I'm writing a postcard to Phil!!!! <http://www.jannah.org/board/images/rolleyes.gif> )

Located on Guangta Road, Huaisheng Mosque, popularly known as the Light Tower Mosque, is one of the earliest mosques established following the introduction of Islam into China in the 7th century. The original mosque on this site is said to have been built in 627 AD by the first Muslim missionary to China, an uncle of Mohammed. Huaisheng means "Remember the Sage", in memory of the prophet - Mohammed

Rebuilt following destruction by fire, the present mosque dates from 1695 during the Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 2966 square meters, the mosque is composed of Imam Hall, Storehouse of Islamic Scripture, Chapel Hall and Baptismal Hall.

An important feature is the minaret, which is 36 meters in height with a pointed tip. It is a typical Arabic architectural style. In the past sailors often climbed the minaret to observe weather conditions before going to sea and in night, the minaret used to serve as a beacon for the boats on the Zhujiang River. Hence the name Light Tower.

See y'all at destination 4 Insha Allah

take care
