| [slm] Sincere appologies for reverting to bro dirt's original question :) but I've been wondering about the same thing myself. I don't know whether there is an official opinion about feeding pets halal food, but I've always tried to avoid feeding my cat pork. I read the ingredients of the food that i get for my cat, the problem is that some major brands use pork or by-products even in canned food that is labelled as Fish. I've tried feeding her scraps and cooking leftover meat or chicken, but she just doesn't eat it. So what I tend to do now is give my cat regular cat biscuits and try and get tinned fish or meat that does not have pork mixed in with it. I also clean and store the utensils i use for the cat separately. I hope I'm doing the right thing. I love my cat, but when you get right down to it, she has a will and mind of her own. I agree with the "muftil hayawaan Shaykha" when she says: [color=Blue]"animals don't have the same laws of shari'ah we have like whatever they do by instinct is permissible for them". [/color] Like when a cat kills a mouse, i bet in their own way they do their own dua before they pounce. So sorry for being so lengthy. Is it permissible to buy them for cats? Answer: Praise be to Allaah. Praise be to Allaah. We put this question to Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen, may Allaah preserve him, who answered as follows: If you buy the tins, then it is not permissible, because it is not permissible to pay for pork and buy it.
