Sayyidna Umar (ra) narrated, ‘If there were not the following three things, I would have preferred to meet Allah: (1) To go out in the Way of Allah; (2) to bow my head on the earth before Allah; (3) To sit along with such people who collect good speech (from the assemblies) as one picks up ripe dates.’  (Imam Ahmad in al Zuhd)

We are currently studying the noble words of the Mercy to the Worlds, the Seal of the Prophets (saw), the one because of whom this ummah has been honoured, the Holy Prophet Muhammed (saw).  Faithful servants of Allah preserved his words through the ages so that we may partake of their blessings.  The most famous compilation of hadith is Sahih al Bukhari by the mountain of memory, the Imam of hadith in the dunya, Imam Bukhari (rh).  We are studying a hadith at a time, leaving no hadith uncovered, from cover to cover.  This is an opportunity usually only open to those studying in an Islamic Institution after years of study.  We are studying the famous abridgement of this great book by Imam Zain ud Din az Zabidi (rh).

In order to gain maximum barakah (blessings) we are studying this book in the traditional manner as was practised by the pious predecessors.  The study is to be conducted in one of the Homes of Allah under the tutorage of Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh ul Haq, the Khatib & Imam of Birmingham Central Mosque.  This respected scholar is also the chief teacher at Madinatul Uloom al Islamiyyah (Islamic University in Kiddeminister, UK).

Where a better place to learn the words of Allah and His Rasul (saw) than the Masajid of Allah where a person is rewarded for just sitting therein.  Sayyidna Abu Hurayrah (ra) narrates that the Prophet (saw) said:

‘Whoever enters this Masjid of ours in order to learn or teach something good then he will be like a Mujahid in the way of Allah, and whoever enters the Masjid for any other reason then he is as one who peeps at something, covets something that does not belong to him.’ (Ahmed)

Learn these blessed words in the manner that it has always been taught from the lips of a teacher to the attentive students.   Abdullah ibn Mubarak (rh) complained ‘There was great blessing, fortune and good in this knowledge as long as this knowledge passed between men.  The moment this passed into books, then much of that good has been lost.’

We request that you come yourselves and bring others also, to learn the words of the Holy Prophet (saw).  The Prophet (saw) said: ‘Whomsoever guides towards a goodness, will get virtues equal to the one who performs that goodness.’  (Muslim)

On Friday the 17th of January we finishad on hadith number 463.  Below are the next five hadith in Tajrid al Sarih that may be covered on Tuesday the 21st of January 2003.

CHAPTER  31: To prostrate on seven bones.

464. Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (ra): The Prophet (saw) said, We have been ordered to prostrate on seven bones i.e. on forehead (along with the tip of the nose and), pointed towards his nose, both hands, both knees and the toes of both feet, and not to tuck up the clothes and the hair. (1:774O.B.)

CHAPTER  32. To sit for a while between the two prostrations.

465. (Narrated Thâbit): Anas (ra) said, I will leave no stone unturned in making you offer the Salât (prayer) as I have seen the Prophet  (ra)  making us offer it. (The remaining Hadith has been passed see Hadith No. 461.) (1:784O.B.)

CHAPTER  33. One should not put the forearms on the ground during prostrations. (Abâ Humaid said: The Prophet (saw) prostrated and put his hands (on the ground) with the forearms away from the ground and away from the body).

466. Narrated Anas bin Mâlik (ra): The Prophet (saw) said, be straight in the prostrations and none of you should put his forearms on the ground (during prostration) like a dog. (1:785O.B.)

CHAPTER  34. Sitting straight in a Witr prayer (i.e. odd Rak'a) and then getting up.

467. Narrated Mâlik bin Huwairith Al Laithi: I saw the Prophet (saw) offering Salât (prayer) and in the odd Rak'a, he used to sit for a moment before getting up. (1:786O.B.)

CHAPTER  35. Saying Takbâr on rising from the two prostrations.

468. Narrated (Sa'id bin Al Hârith) : Abu Sa'id Al Khudri (ra) led us in the Salât (prayer) and said the Takbir aloud on arising from the prostration, and on prostrating, on rising again, and on getting up from the second Rak'a. Abu Sa'id said, I saw the Prophet (saw)  doing the same. (1:788O.B.)

Please note that the translation for the above ahadith is not endorsed by ourselves but rather is taken from the commonly available English translation of Tajrid al Sarih.
