[slm] I got the following email and wanted to know if it was a hoax or not? Does this kind of thing being sent to the UN help, significantly? Dont they have their own surveys? ??? ??? ??? EMAIL: Wednesday, January 22, 2003 9:51 AM Subject: PLEASE READ > > > The US Congress has just authorized the >President of > > > the US to go to war against Iraq. Please >consider this > > > an urgent request. > > > > > > UN Petition for Peace > > > Stand for Peace. > > > Islam is not the Enemy. > > > War is NOT the Answer. > > > > > > Today we are at a point of imbalance in the >world and > > > are moving toward what may be the beginning of a >THIRD > > > WORLD WAR. > > > > > > If you are against this possibility, the UN is > > > gathering signatures in an effort to avoid a >tragic > > > world event. > > > > > > Please COPY (rather than Forward) this e-mail in >a new > > > message, sign at the end of the list, and send >it to > > > all the people whom you know. I've got the same e-mail numerous times. I have no idea. I would have thought the UN would have their own/ other ways of doing such a survey like u've siad. And besides what power does the UN really have? None. If America and Britian do go to war, they sure as heck ain't going to be listening to the 'NO's coming from the rest of the world, let alone the UN. |

yeah I got the email as well but the UN has fallen to the same level the league of nations fell to. And the other worrying thing is that the leaders of the world are not listening to their people, especially poodle blair and his cowboy partner Bubba Bush. So called terrorist actions will rise andmore people will die from the evil policys of Bush and Bliar than those of terrorism. Today its Iraq, tomorrow the other countries in the Mid East... May Allah help the innocents and defeat the real terrorists everywhere. Salaams Hanif |

[slm] As the others, I also received this e-mail...i checked out a website (i'm sure it was the UN one, but i cant seem to find it anymore) and basicaly it said it (the UN) had nothing to do with the e-mail that has been sent out. If u wanted to put ur point across, then this would have to be done thru ur government, not directly to the UN (as if they listen anyway) If i find the link i'll put it up. [wlm] |

Checkout this URL: http://www.unicwash.org/unic%20was%20response%20to%20petition.htm Here is what one of the brothers at my workplace said about a UN "petition" going around a while back: "The UN Information Center of Washington does not, nor have they ever, initiated any petitions, (please read http://www.unicwash.org/unic%20was%20response%20to%20petition.htm ). They recommend that if you are a US Citizen, you should contact the US House of Representatives, US Senate and White House. If you are not a citizen, contact the Permanent Missions to the United Nations. That is, contact by e-mail. Most petitions are ignored because they can easily be counterfeited." [wlm] |
