The Phoenix

[slm] ikhwani wa akhwati

Centuries before Harry Potter capture imaginations worldwide with the tears of the Phoenix in the second instalment of the movie, the bird has long been a legend amongst Asians, especially the Chinese.  The Phoenix is not only legendary but it has the singularly wonderful ability to rise from amidst its ashes.  Thus, the phrase The Phoenix riseth means to bounce back from defeat for many of us here.

A friend told me of the post Jannah made in the Ummah Community Centre and that in part prompted this penning.  I want to say that this board was, is and will Insya'Allah continue to be a beautiful platform for exchanges between Muslims and non-Muslims alike, between people who genuinely care for their Deen and the world they live in.  This board was made possible by a beautiful spirit called Jannah.  Thus, when I read that you actually claimed the fault for what transpired some time ago, it galled me to just remain silent.  You should not have apologised Jannah because in no way were u to be blamed at all, indeed if there was any need for blaming at all.  It was just a myriad of reasons and confusion and cross signals that resulted in an unfortunate ending.  Please, don't apologise.

I believe many perhaps share Jannah's assessment that an insult has been given but I do not see it that way.  I am very sure no one amongst us would insult another Muslim.  Even if the choice of word seemed insulting, it was perhaps an honest assessment by a member towards me and I have to accept that fact and reconcile.  That is largely the reason for my departure.  As I have said before, I need to do some muhasabah and Alhamdulillah, I have been lucky because it has given me so many new insights on myself and my involvement here.

Maybe it would be good for all of us to remember that our contributions to this board are via the written medium.  As we are all aware, the written medium is fraught with many possibilities of misinterpretation and misunderstanding.  Thus it would be good if we can all do a re-read if we think what is written is hideous or maybe even confirm with a friend whether the message we comprehend is similar to his/hers (lol in this respect I have bugged Sr Barr and Sr Maliha and Sr Ellie oft times).  This form of check will also help us in realising that not all of us speak the same way, even the same language.

Sis Jannah, if I understood your writing to be directed towards me, I did not allow any insult to deter me from doing any good.  Sometimes distance and space helps us breathe better and Insya'Allah think better :) As you can see, fortunately or unfortunately, I am back (now perhaps Sis Maliha can stop bugging me :D lol).  Insya'Allah. with my return I hope to help where I can.

Dearest brothers and sisters, time is running out.  We have slumbered for far too long, each caught in our own fantasy and dreams.  Now it is time to awaken, it is time to let the Phoenix rise from its ashes.  It is time to know that we can be silent no more.  For the sake of the Ummah, let us know that we are one, we are together and we are strong.

Until my next musing, keep the spirit alive.

Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar (uhh no, I am not a fanatic nor an extremist in case u are wondering :) )

Wassalam.

Too right I think sometimes our emotions get carried away and we right with our emotions, perhaps with anger and frustration.

Sometimes its better to read but not reply be calm and come back the day after if Allah wills and then see what you can do.

Anyway I somwhat had a feeling that you were coming back...

By the way I need some help on making halaal jelly beans can you help.

Salaams
