Jannah my dream is sort of similar!!  :o I was at a wedding and all of a sudden there's a defeaning roar and i run outside and there are hundreds and hundreds of F16s in the sky and one plane carrying passerngers and then they start throwing bombs down at the people. I run around screaming, "they are bombing us! they are bombing us!" people around me run around some people seem oblivion to it, they aren't scared.

and one lady, i grab her and i say "look. look at the sky, they're bombing us." and she brushes me off and say, "no they arent'" and i'm shocked that she can be so blind when the whole sky was filled with f16s and bombs were being dropped all around us.

weird huh?????  ???  ::)

Actually I had a pretty ominous dream (nightmare?) as well.

I dreamed that I was back at my home (in Kuwait) and the war had been going on for some years! Everyone had a green laser "dot" on their chest. I asked my dad what that was and he replied ever so casually that "Oh .. that's how they keep us in check. Don't say anything "wrong" else they'll "zap" you  :-/

I'm not making this up... I really dreamed this.

As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah,

Ok, back to the state of the union address, people (altho the dreams were all fascinatingly similar and apocalyptic, I'm kind of wary about us talking about nightmares).

I watched bits and pieces, since I usually can't stomach tv, and even less, the president.

My impression of him is the same as before the address - he's a zombie when it comes to domestic issues (he sounded like a robot), that suddenly comes to life when  speaking about foreign policy issues, which mainly only dealt with "terrorism," Iraq, etc. His war (and the enemy that his government created for him) - that's when you see the glint in his eyes.

Upholding good relations, working with countries to make the world a better place, forget that.

But war, yee haw!     ::)

The only thing he needed to get out of this address was a higher approval rating from the American people to go to war. He tried to talk the talk, make it sound *right.* Although he received waay too many ovations (standing ones, even, ewww), I wonder how many of the American people could see right through him. He's definitely not going to wait until all of the American people agree with him, or anyone else for that matter. But I guess he had to make some sort of an attempt to "assuage" the masses - look, war doesn't hurt *us*, see?    >:(

He even (stooped so low that he) brought up the astute point that there are way too many cases of AIDS in Africa, and that maybe the US should send more aid there (now we think of that?? convenient timing).

Disgusted,
sofia

As a brit I guess I've seen less of his TV appereances than you guys in the US. However, watch the footage closely and I mean closely, look at his body language and the way he talks. What does it say to you ? To me it said his a man of low confidence, his not quite sure about this war on terror and he is clearly not in control of it.

I don't know maybe I'm reading too much into it but seriously look at the way he looks into the camera, its like his rehearsed this script a million times and he's like kinda confused, his got the sleepy glaze look in his eyes, what do others think ?

And its bit sad to hear about you guys and your dreams, yet there is no doubt that there is  going to be a lot of resentment towards the US and UK in the years to come if this war fouls up.

Afghanistan is in a mess and if the present war coalition leaves Iraq in the same mess, then I don't know. The situation for Muslims worldwide is looking grim. Many will be angry and because of that will have more 9/11s.

May Allah save us and may he turn our enemys into our friends or create a split between them. Ameen.

As-salaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullah,

You're not imagining things, broHanif.

What I meant by "suddenly comes to life" is that he goes from zombie to animated puppet.

In no way did I mean to suggest he can write his own speeches. Pretty impressive memorization skills, however. Very zombie-esque of him.

Now's as good a time as ever to memorize the Qur'aanic du'aa (or something like it, if we haven't already):

"Rabbanaa laa taj'Alnaa fitnata(n)llil-qawmi Dh-Dhaalimeen.  Wa najjinaa bi raHmatika minal qawmil kaafireen."

"O our Lord, do not make us a trial for the unjust people (oppressors), and by Your mercy, save us from the unbelievers."

[translation of the Qur'aan Surah Yunus 10:85-6]

and/or

"Rabbanaa 'Alayka tawakkalnaa wa 'ilayka 'anabnaa wa 'ilaykal maSeer.  Rabbanaa laa taj'Alnaa fitnata(n)llilladheena kafaroo waghfirlanaa Rabbanaa 'innaka 'antal 'Azeezul-Hakeem."

"O our Lord, In You do we put our trust, and to You do we turn in repentance, and to You is our final return. O our Lord, make us not a trial for the disbelievers, and forgive us our sins. O our Lord, indeed You are the Mighty, the Wise."

[translation of the Qur'aan Surah MumtaHinah 60:4-5]

When it come to vocalarly, America leaves a lot to be desire.

Now catch phrases are: Weapons of Mass Destruction
                                      I am a Patient Man
                                      They are either with us or against us
                                      etc, etc, etc.

George was guy who did not know much about the rest of the world prior to 9/11.  All of sudden he is getting a crush course on foreign policy through war.  Very true, the guy lacks confidence and he is not the one running the show. Powell, Rice, Rumsfield, Cheney and the hardcore republicans are.

Whenever I am watching CNN and he shown in a news segment or otherwise, I flip channels.  There a better things to watch than puppet president.
