[slm] Any additions /corrections? [code] Hajj Experience Play with Abdullah-final Muslim- Hi everyone. Welcome to the Hajj Experience. Thanks for coming. I think you all will have a good time. We are going to introduce you to the 5th pillar of Islam- Hajj. It is a journey called the Pilgrimage. We are going to take you to each station and tell you all about it. Has anyone ever gone to Hajj? Abdullah- - I have, I have! Muslim -You have? Abdullah- -Yes, but I don’t remember much, because I was just a baby then. Muslim -Does everyone remember Abdullah ? Abdullah- - As salaamu alaykum kids! Muslim - Abdullah, do you want to join us and help us visit the Hajj sites? Abdullah- - yes...this is going to be fun! Muslim- Is everybody ready? Let’s go practice our Hajj! IHRAM Station Muslim- First we have to prepare to go to Hajj. There are some things we have to do. One is Wudu! Everyone ready... pretend you are making Wudu! Muslim: Now you all have purified yourselves. We now have to make our intentions. Abdullah- -What is an intention? Muslim: It is when you say you are going to do something. This intention we say it inside, to ourselves. Abdullah- Why do we say it silently? Muslim: Because Allah (swt) knows what is really in your hearts. Everybody repeat it after me, but silently: “Here I am Allah in response to your call. Oh Allah there is no showing off or being angry with the Muslims , You have no partner, Here I am, Indeed all praise, grace, and kingdom belong to You.” Abdullah- Is there anything we say out loud? Muslim: We can say our vow out loud. Abdullah- What is a vow? Muslim: A vow is a promise to Allah, that we will finish our Hajj. Abdullah- How do we say it? Muslim: Oh Allah, if I am prevented by an obstacle, then indeed my place is where you prevent me. Abdullah- I don’t get it. Muslim: It just means that if we can’t finish Hajj because of a good reason, like getting sick, then we are saying that it is Allah’s will. Muslim: Now, we have to finish up all our business at home. This is called preparing for Hajj. Go to table with will, card, bills, etc.. Does anyone owe any money? Go pay them. Did anyone get into a fight? Go say sorry. Do you have a will made? Abdullah- What is a will? Muslim: It is a piece of paper with instructions on it, in case you die. Abdullah- Do I need one? Muslim: Most kids don’t, so you don’t have to worry about it now. It is a grown up thing. Is everyone ready to travel to Saudi Arabia? Abdullah- - Why Saudi Arabia? Muslim: Because that’s where Makkah is. Abdullah- - Why Makkah? Muslim: Because that’s where the Ka’bah is! Abdullah- - How do people get there? Muslim: (point to map and pictures) Boat, airplane, car, bike, and even camels! Muslim: Is everyone ready to go to a Meeqat? Abdullah- - What is a meeqat? Muslim: It is a place where Muslims go to before going to Makkah. Abdullah- - Does everyone go to the same meeqat? Muslim: No-(go to meeqat sign) Abdullah- - What meeqat do we go to? Muslim: People who live in America go to this one. Abdullah- - What do you do there? Muslim: Well, before you cross the line you have to put on the clothes of someone who is making Hajj. Abdullah- - What kind of clothes? Muslim: They are two pieces of white seamless cloths. It looks like this (show Ihram robe, put sashes on the kids) We have sashes for everyone to wear just like playing dress up and you can pretend they are our Ihram robes! Abdullah- - How do we wear this? Muslim: Put the Ihram sash over the left shoulder and under the right arm. Abdullah- - This is cool I like this. Does everyone wear these? Muslim: No, just the men, but the women usually like to wear white clothes too. One thing the woman can’t do is where the niqab or gloves. Abdullah- -What is a niqab? Muslim: The face veil. Ok everyone! We made our intention, paid our bills, said sorry and got dressed properly. Are we ready to go to the Ka’bah? Abdullah- - Yeah!!! Is this when we get to say Labbayka allaahumma Labbayk? Play tape Muslim: It sure is! It is called the Talibeeyah. Abdullah- - What does it mean? Muslim: Point & Look at poster Kids lets say it together... over and over till we get to the Ka’bah! Keep playing tape Ka’bah Station Muslim: Here we are at the Ka’bah! Abdullah- -Is that someone’s house? Muslim: Well, some people call it Bait ul Allah (Baytullah), others call it the Honorable house, or the Sacred House. But no one lives there. Abdullah- - Who built it? Muslim: Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh), with his son and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) helped rebuild it. Do you know who originally built it? Abdullah- - Prophet Adam? Muslim: Yep... you are so smart! It is the first House of Worship. Abdullah- Are we supposed to worship the Ka’bah? Muslim: No! It is the quibla! The focal point for Muslims to pray toward. Abdullah- - I don’t understand. Muslim: When you pray, what way do you face? Abdullah- - My wall. Muslim: Do you know why you pray that way? Because it is the direction of the Ka’bah. So when we pray we are actually praying in the direction of the Ka’bah! Abdullah- - What is that rock in the wall? Muslim: It is called the Black Stone. It came from Paradise. When Prophet Muhammad went by it he kissed it. Abdullah- - Can we kiss it? Muslim: I don’t think we should because this is not the real Black Stone, but if you want you can point to it as we go by. Abdullah- - How come it is black? Muslim: Well it started out white- but Prophet Muhammad said that it turned black because of man’s sins. Abdullah- - Yikes! I want to be a better Muslim! - Is it true that the Black Stone can speak? Muslim: Yep, on the Day of Judgement it will have eyes and tell Allah who touched it and who was there. Do you know what we do at the Kab’bah? Abdullah- We run around it!~ Muslim: We walk around it 7 times. The Pilgrims walk around it counterclockwise outside the Hateem. Abdullah- - Is that the white marble wall that looks like a half of a circle? Muslim: Yes, it is called the Hateem. Along time ago: when they were rebuilding the Ka’bah the people did not have enough good money to build the Ka’bah as big as Prophet Ibrahim and his son built it. This wall shows us how big the Ka’bah once was. The portion of the Ka’bah left out is called the Hij jr and is encompassed by the marble Hateem. Abdullah- - I heard that there is great shade there. Muslim: Ha Ha!! Yes this is true. Once as Prophet Muhammad passed the Ka’bah, he saw a man sitting in this area, between the Ka’bah and the Hateem and said that the man was in the most honored shade on earth. Abdullah- - Do we do anything special there? Muslim: A lot of people like to pray 2 rakats in there and then say they prayed in the Ka’bah! Abdullah- - What is the Ka’bah wearing? Muslim: It is called a Kiswa- the Veil. Abdullah- - What is it made of? Muslim: Silk and Gold Abdullah- -What is that writing on it? Muslim: It is Arabic. It is the Shahadah and other ayats of the Qu’ran. Who wants to do Tawaf? Abdullah- - Me me! What am I supposed to say? Muslim: Start at the Black Stone and say Allahu Akbar. One thing a lot of people say between the Yemini corner and the Black Stone is “ Our Lord, give us in this life that which is good and in the hereafter which is good and save us from the torment of the fire.” We get rid of a lot of sins that way. Is everyone ready? Walk- remind about no pushing or running Abdullah- - When I was going around the corner I saw a secret door. What was it? Muslim- What door? Abdullah- The gold one on the Ka’bah Muslim- No silly, it is just an entrance to get inside the Ka’bah. Abdullah- What is inside? Muslim- Well, pretty much it’s empty Abdullah- Does anybody live there? Muslim- No, it used to be filled with idols but Alhumdullillah Prophet Muhammad broke all the idols! Abdullah- Yay for Prophet Muhammad! Muslim- Did you notice the small gold structure as you walked around the Ka’bah? Abdullah- I saw a carousel... Muslim- Oh, it isn’t a carousel, It is called Abraham’s Station also known as Maqam Ibrahim. Abdullah- What is inside? Muslim- You are not going to believe it. Abdullah- Yes I will! yes I will! Muslim- Inside is a rock that had Prophet Ibrahim’s footprints on it. Allah said that this is a very safe place and he told us all to pray to Allah by this Station. Abdullah- What do they pray? Muslim- After they go around the Ka’bah they pray 2 rakat. Do you want to know how the whole story of Hajj started? Abdullah- Yes! Muslim- Ok - let’s go over to the two mountains and have a seat. I have a nice story to tell you. Safa & Marwa Muslim- Ok everyone sit down and I will tell you a story about a mommy and her son. It is the story of Prophet Ibrahim following Allah’s orders to travel to what is now known as Makkah. Prophet Ibrahim took his son and wife on a long journey. When they got to a place in the desert, he told them that he was going to leave them there. The mom, Hajar, followed him asking “Oh Abraham! Where are you going? Are you leaving us where there is no people or food or water?” She asked him this many times but he did not reply. Then she asked him, “Has Allah ordered you to do this?” He said “yes.” She then said “Then Allah will not neglect us.” At this time there was no water or people living there. He actually left them in this barren land. Prophet Ibrahim gave her a leather bag containing dates and a water skin with water and then he went back home with out them! Hajar was an obedient wife and worshiper of Allah With her baby she was now all alone, with no extra food or water. Yet, she knew that Allah would help her. Even Prophet Ibrahim had complete faith in Allah. We are told that when he left and they could not see him- he prayed to Allah “Oh our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation, by thy Sacred house; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish regular prayer: so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, feed them fruits: so that they may give thanks.” After Prophet Ibrahim left, Ismael’s mother went on nursing and taking care of her son. When the water from the waterskin was all used up, she became thirsty and her milk dried up. Hajar was a good Muslim. She did not sit quietly and cry. She went looking for help. She ran from mountain to mountain looking for anyone to help her. Many times she ran back and forth searching for help for her and her son. Throughout this whole time, she never gave up on Allah and continuously prayed - “There is no Allah but Allah and Allah is greater.” When Hajar reached Mount Marwa, she heard a voice. She stopped to listen and again heard the voice. She saw nothing but asked- “Oh whoever you may be- You made me hear your voice; have you got something to help me?” And she saw Angel Jibriel in the valley.
