Rest of the things make sense, but I don't really get this: "CANADA Our friendly but backwards neighbours." So, what's up with this "backwardness"? Anyone?

I don't find this funny at all and it always amazes me how
many want to settle here and yet don't like it and put it down.
Would you like Americans judging all muslim people by a few terriorist?
Then please don't judge America by a few Americans.
I thought this site was cool till I see how much
America and American bashing goes on.
I not only find this not funny, but I also find it very sad.
There are a lot of of Americans who would love nothing more than
for our country to close its borders, stay out of other countries
and to stop buying oil & other products from other countries,
have a strong defense from home not from afar and
be more independant in our own resources.
Please stop putting us down.

Dear Anonymous,

First of all, please read the fine print on the bottom of every post on this message board. Individual posts do not necessarily reflect the views of Jannah.org, Islam, or all Muslims. The posts here have nothing to do with the website, this is a message board and 517 people as of today post here and no one's view represents all Muslms, all Islam or even jannah.org..

Second, I doubt the people that "want to settle here" are the one's making fun of it.  We're American too and I think we have a right to make fun of our own country.  Why don't we move out and go somewhere else? I don't think so, this is still our own country and if there are any wrongs here, we seek to address them to make this a better place.  If you've never seen anything wrong where you live, than good for you. It must be utopic.
As for that map I don't think it's offensive? As an American I think it's more like social commentary or sarcasm. It's backed up by all the studies that show we are not teaching our children geography or political history or cultures of the world. Not to mention our government's foreign policy of late.

I'm sorry you see it as "putting you down". I see it as us recognizing our own faults and making ourselves stronger because of it.

Hey,

Okay okay so maybe it's a little offensive.  But perhaps a general analysis of "humor" might soften you up.  I mean seriously speaking (pun intended), humor is just an exaggerated overplay of reality.  That's where shows like SNL or Politically Incorrect rise from.  That's also where popular  culture like Eminem sparks from....

Now if you can't see the humor in any of those things...okay, maybe you're just on a completely different platform...and you deserve an apology....from me.  I'm sorry that I laughed at this.

Otherwise...this kinda stuff is funny to someone like me, who witnessed an Ameican asking a Danish guy if his country bordered Liberia.  (Hello?!)

Having said that...I don't think that even I, as someone who is appreciative of this humor, is generalizing that all Americans are like that...just like you, as another rational human being claims that not all Muslims are represented by terrorists...

Anyway I hope you can at least begin to see my point.

As for the Canadian thing....I don't know if you guys have ever seen the show with the guy who goes around interviewing people in the US....(forget his name...but if it comes to me...i'll let y'all know..)  By the way, this is all in humor too.....He asked the governor of Georgia to "COngratulate Canada on breaking their age-old tradition of sending their old to the polar ice caps to perish."  :D the gov'nur complied wholeheartedly.

Wasalaam.

I can relate but I thinks it's disgusting cause
one time a teacher asked me where Maine was
she didn't even know general location like it's in the
NE section of her country.I heard it's like that in
other countries people only knowing their back door
and some not even that much.
Stupidity and ignorance is not ethnic nor geographically specific
My concern is people migrate here and other
countries take our money and many without paying the loans back
and yet they are always insulting us.
If Islam is peace, mercy, forgiveness and kindness then
stop putting others down.

Can you show some proof for this? Who comes to this country to get a loan? Do you mean foreign students for studies? From what I know almost all universities require a financial background check of foreign students before accepting them (to make sure they can pay) and secondly they raise the tuition to almost double the amount for foreign students. So they're actually making quite alot of money off them.  As for people who come here to work for a few years and go back home, I think the status quo is that they "WORK" for their money just like everyone else.  You cannot receive welfare if you are not a citizen/perm resident.  There's a good article on immigration and how they actually create wealth and are needed for a countries economy posted in the British forum. You can check it out. As for your last comment, I can only ask, who's insulting who here?

Not sure what Islam has to do with any of this and again the picture  was a joke, sarcasm to make a point, not unlike a political cartoon, not an offense.

I think the real issue when it comes down to it is that you do not consider Muslims as  Americans. Therefore when they make fun of their own country or people, or problems or point out these problems and legitimate issues, you take it as criticism from OUTSIDERS instead of what everyone else in this country does.. from ordinary people to late nite television.

La Ilaha Illa Allah

haha......... things gett humors sometimes ...... and then sometimes they get sad  :(

The funny thing is watching people and their reactions based on their viewpoints....... and the sad thing is how people suffer and cause themselves frustration, hardship and termoil based on their viewpoints

All I can really say here........ I am 100% American..... born and bread...... and you should have seen my sons comics he was sharing with me just the other day.  And we were both enjoying the sarcasm.  They were all comics about governmental issues.  There are definitely many Americans that are not agreeing with things that are taking place in our government.  We have to be careful too when we take the idea that our government could be 100% correct.... we don't want to be placing them as a god.
I think this was an American expression not a Muslim /anti-Muslim expression.  Two different issues completely....... even our own constitution addresses the issue of not mixing religion and state ?? correct ?? ..... it also addresses the issue of freedom of speech ...... are we presenting a double standard ??

I am 100% American, too.  My ancestors were among the original colonists.  My relatives fought in the Revolutionary War, The Civil War, WWI, WWII, etc.  They have been Presidents, Governors, farmers and even some Native American Indians in there somewhere.  However, I thought the map was hilarious.  I actually laughed out loud.  I grew up in the south and now live in the Northwest.  People's ignorance never seems to amaze and amuse me.   :-/  :D
