[slm] DISCLAIMER : The word pesky is just a publicity stunt..I promise ;D I like reading the tips cos some of them are really cute. Sometimes I find myself mentally responding to some of them. Below I list some of my responses to the tips. Please feel free to give your knee jerk reaction to the tips. PS If the Admin contact you regarding your opinion of them, I ain't 'fessin 8) 1. Bebsi starts with B because its bad for you Uh huh, should we re-name bausages, bice cream, bchocolates ? Plus, if B is used cos there aint any P in Arabic, neither is there 'e'. So shouldnt that be Bibsi ? :-[ 2. If we ban niqab/hijab and basketball as topic, what would be left with ? Superbowl, baseball, football (soccer for the Yanks), henna, the *for girls only*, babies names.. 3. Chocolates taste good with rice cakes too Alright, name one thing chocolate doesnt taste good with ? 'Nuff said ! :P 4. Only plan a wedding when the diamond ring is on your finger Actually I dont mind planning the wedding for my 2 should-be-married-ages-ago brothers ;) 5. If you hear something scary dont check it out, send a brother *Looking at the Madinah bro skeptically* 6. Help is really helpful Uh huh...I see, ah shore didnt know that one ma'am. I jes thought its for them newbies who jes wanna trah clickin' them thangs y'all. *Ducks head as there is a collective groan* Okay okay..sheeshh..you come up with better ;D Wassalam |

[slm] Only plan a wedding when the diamond ring is in it for you. Ok I guess this bothers me. Is it a joke? If not, is it an encouragement to not marry bros who cannot afford diamond rings? [wlm] |

as salaamu alaykum,
Only plan a wedding when the diamond ring is in it for you.
I think Jannah means, only plan the wedding if it's *yours* :) This was Jannah's favorite saying after having to organize our bro's waleema with 250+ people in less than three months!! She said this so many times that our bro and sis-in-law actually bought her a ring :P hehe.. wasalaamu alaykum :-) |
Ok I guess this bothers me. Is it a joke? If not, is it an encouragement to not marry bros who cannot afford diamond rings?
wow. let's go back.. this is what it says "Only organize a wedding if there's a diamond ring in it for u." nothing there talking about marriage.. just organizing a wedding... i think i still stand by my statement after having gone through it..and seeing otherss too... just don't do it.. hire a wedding planner, get ANYone else to do it haha but that much effort and crazyness deserves more than just a diamond ring.. it's PRICEless ;) as for diamonds they are over-rated.. now rubies.. those are nice!! ;D i saw this heart shaped ruby ring for 79 bucks... anyone anyone??? cough.. eid...b-day's coming up......cough |

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)
"Only organize a wedding if there's a diamond ring in it for u."
Hmmm.....there seems to be a vast differential in payoffs between Brothers & Sisters here... I organised my brother and sister in law's wedding with 800+ people and all I got was a pat on the back and a "jolly good show" appreciative comment!! I think I need to move to a more high paying area ;) |

[slm] Oh ok...I guess I misunderstood. :) Jazakumullah Khair for clearing it up. I had no bad intentions. I was just asking a simple question. [wlm] |

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)
how did you find a hall/s that could fit so many people?
Plural is exactly right and alhamdulillah everyone managed to make it.
how'd you feed everyone?!
Allah knows best how my sister in law's mother did all the cooking for so many people!!! May Allah reward her for all her hard work. A tip for all you potential wedding planners out there: 1. Draw up a timetable 2. Make sure everyone knows the timetable 3. Ensure everyone *adheres* to the timetable 4. Don't go ballistic when your timetable is torn into shreds!!! ;-) Wasalaam Br *gladly retired wedding planner* Khalid ;-) |

[slm] OMG I think bhaloo is getting into the act too. I just noticed the boring cereal tastes good with bananas hahaha a good one.. Anyone else got anymore? btw these were originally just some funny/realistic rules for life i made up one time as an IM away message, but thought I'd use it here. unfortunately when your audience goes international they don't really understand the funnyness of it anymore... or maybe it's just me ppl don't understand though my friends thought they were hysterical |
timetable? ::) that's not been my cup of tea (and don't think so it would be when the time comes) Personally i have played tiny bit roles in such functions back at home. But the real fun (worry) starts when the schedule goes wrong, sometimes totally upside down, like untimely delivery of walimah, too much rush, weather conditions (marriages at my place are conducted in an open tent mostly where the guests crosses 1500+ mark). :) Jaihoon |
