[/quote] Zahid, true it's sadly over, but I think the reason for the press coverage is because it is such a shock and painful for everyone. And no one knows why. It's like if someone just said to you your family is gone and it's like what the heck? what happenned, how did it happen, etc... I think it's part of the acceptance process to understand what happenned. However, I do agree with your sentiments... how does the media choose to highlight some things and ignore others. What about the thousands under starvation right now around the world, or the hundred thousand children that will die this year from sanctions in Iraq, or other things going on in the US that are important too. You know these three kids killed this taxi driver right down the street here for drugs. His life gone just like that, and the other 3 destroyed now too. I just can't understand it. Lives are lives, we should be working to highlight and protect all of them, not just the one's on the news. |

The only time they report favorably on the space program is when there is some horrific accident, and then the astronauts and NASA are the end all and be all of existence. There have been tons of media reports in the last ten-fifteen years criticising the amount of $ the gov. spends on the space program, but now the talking heads are in an uproar because NASA didn't spend enough money to upgrade the shuttles. Hypocrites. >:( As for the Palestinian women who was crushed, I saw one or two blurbs on it but nothing substantial. You know, my brother works for an Arab political org. in DC (we are not Arab) and I told him once of my frustrations was that there did not seem to be alot of "balanced" reports, coverage or interviews about the Palestinian situation and even American Muslim issues, I was like, "why aren't you people more on the ball with this?" He laughed in my face and said, "If you only knew the number of reports we issue, statements we give, and people we try to book on shows, only to be ignored, "lost" or turned down, you wouldn't ask me that." The above posts only make me realise that we get our own TV channels, radio, internet broadcast, web casts email cast you name every cast lets run the thing by sincere Muslims, and not some lame duck who's gonna sell out on the first opportunity. |

[/quote] Sorry for not making it clear, we should really invest more resources into channels like Al-Jazeera and sites where news information can flow using a vast range of technologies from the radio to using txt messging on to your mobile. The media holds alot of power and if can manage to tune it to make people reaslise whats happening in the REAL world then more people will be asking questions and raising the flag of justice. Rather than listening to the Bush Bliar(Blair) Corporation (BBC) or the all Muslim loving channel, CNN. |
