| Hey hey hey ;) Now you don't have to be a Bro to enjoy those things. Archery is great dirt, I enjoy it a lot. Unfortunatly I am not able to draw back much weight as I am having a problem with the nerve in my arm. Are you in the US? Cause there are many archery ranges all over the place. What kind of bow are you thinking of using? I was very lucky to have an older instructor (in their 70's) what a privilage to benefit from such skill and knowledge Horseback riding cool too. Are you thinking engish or western riding? Have fun both are awsome and fun. I am now getting into driving (carriage and buggies) I really like riding but really like draft horses. It is my goal and dream to build a farm that is not modern :) And if you like both there are some really great groups that combine them. One group does contests on shooting from horseback, riding trails, hunting, following a blood trail (hunting) shooting at different distances, at different targeys and all. Its cool. One group does the midevil times re-inactment type educational thing. They are world wide not just in the US. You can even pick out and work on a persona and pic a name and country you are into. One of my aquaintences picked an Arab persona. They have educational re-enactments and contests with archery and equestrian stuff. Whats really cool is the name you pick you can't just be someone famous, you have to actually study and prove the name was used in the time frame you are taking. Show the name exsisted and was used in the country where your persona comes from. They have monthly meetings and weekly practices. Let me know if you would like the web site to them. They also have fencing which I really really like. I must sound like a really weird lady, guns, archery, horses, fencing, chopping wood!!!!!! But I also like sewing and gardening too, honest :) Make-up????? Yuk hand this gal a washcloth ;D I bet I am giving you all the wrong idea, I am not non-fem I am just a natural type. |

I have a fascination with swords. I had one but gave it away. I intend to buy myself another one insha-Allah . I also long to learn archery. But alas, I am so broke at the moment. | The org is: The Society for Creative Anchronism Their web site it www.sca.org I know they are nation wide, Austrailia, Europe, Middle East and Africa I can't say how active other kingdoms are. They have broken it up it different kingdoms and then seperate it into smaller groups. Equestrian, jousting, archery, fencing (rapier) and arts and crafts and cooking of the times. Theres also costume and armor making groups. The other think is only in the US but has many rides and activities and they are The Backcountry Horseman www.bchc.com www.bchw.org From looking at the sites I think they may be a northwestern US group but could be wrong. But if so they would be a good sourse to find a list of simular type orgs in your area. |

Boy, do i have a really really really low bow weight, i won't even say it for embarssment sake :D, but i am having some problems. Do you shot instinctivily or with a bow shoot technique? I am doing it instinctivily, my arrows go everywhere!!!!!!!!!! I do good right in the beginning of class but right towards the end, they just totally screw up! Suggestions please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! red |

Are you learning on a recurve or compound bow? Doing good and messing up later as practice progresses to me is a sign you practiced to long (in my opinion I do it too.) When I am getting tired and don't know it I allow myself on more good shot and quit. Kind of like training a dog or horse, end on a good note don't wait till after you fustrated yourself. Low weight, if you are not having elbow/shoulder problems and it is a matter of strength this will inprove in time, ask instructor for exersise to strengthen you. Sis don't be embarrassed, I can hardly pull back 20 lbs at this time as the nerve in my arm they think is compressed and after about 30 minutes the next day the nerve in my elbow is shot and I am seeing a neurologist soon. In my state you have to hunt drawing 40 lbs or more. I could get a cross bow medical exemption in some states. Some states these are illegal. Instinct/technique? You have to try both and try them combined and go with what works for you. Most of all be patient, if you are enjoying yourself you take all the time you need to be as good as you wish to be. Personally I think right now we can take them on especially with mike walking around in his latest fashion statements, (uh sorry Bro dirt, we will never get rid of those feminine topics) ;) I really love archery, but, i will defintely being IM'ing you sis everyday for tips! ;D red ;) |
