They have that 100 ways to style your hijab book but from what I've seen most are too fancy and difficult for me LoL...I normally pin it under my chin and then take on side up and pin it in the back of head, you can get really nice pins for the back now, flowers and stuff I picked up some nice ones from ICNA. Or I wear the wrap-around (egyptian style) hijabs a lot, they have some really dressy designs which look nice.

I don't know much about the make-up topic though. InshaAllah some one else can help you out.

You live in the UK right, I was in Hounslow/SouthHall area last year, I loved it! I know it's kinda...but the shopping was great!   ;D

yeahh i was thinking about the 100 different styles to wear hijab book.. hmm i have only seen the cover though!!.. hehe i remember one my friends started hijab like in 7th grade she would do all kinda twists and things it was pretty neat alhamdullilah :)

Also, i saw some really nice sparkly hijabs, they are not like tacky gold or silver but add a very subtle tone to the hijabs.. perfect for weddings!!! insha'Allah will look online for ya.. Some of my friends on weddings wear like gold amatul's or amta's  under their hijabs or duppats.. that looks nice on many people but i can't pull it off :) .. so basically buy shiny solid color fabric and make your own bandana or amatul for under the hijab..
Nice pins always add pizzaz to any ordinary looking hijab.. i really think i live in a cave because i just discoverd this last year :) that you can just go in any department store and find cool pins!!! and they can be used as hijab pins he he so no more waiting around for isna :)

hope this helps :)

okay i have not idea about what is being said at some parts. But here is a site with some different styles. I am not too sure if they are ok in terms of the rules of the proper hijab as they might be real tight around neck and shoulder which would mean it details the body. But maybe not when you actualy try one?

as salaamu alaykum,

I've looked through that book and most of the styles are sooooo complicated!!  I don't know how people do it.

here are some cool styles that I've seen:

-- if you are wearing a summer dress that has one of those *thin* belts, made out of the same material and with the same pattern of your dress, wear a solid-colored scarf and then tie the belt like right along your hair line, and then tucked under your hijab.. it looks kinda like a really thin headband on top of your hijab.. it looks really cute and it brings your whole outfit together :)

-- wear a bandana or a brightly printed hijab tied close to your head and then a larger more see-through hijab on top.. so you're still covered but you have this funky two-layered look going on.. it also helps mute colors on hijabs that are too bright

-- here's something I do a lot.. wear a really embroidered or printed dupatta from a shalwar qameez outfit, with solid-colored american clothes.. all black with a really distinctive hijab looks cool  8)

-- if you have a smaller hijab with lace or beads at the end, wear it so that the beads/lace are at your forehead, tie it back like a bandana, and then wear another hijab the same color on top :)

-- there's these things they have at stores now.. I don't know what they're called.. they're basically a small triangle of cloth with strings attached to two corners.. and you're supposed to wear it like a do-rag I guess.. you can wear a cool colored/designed one of those like a headband, and with a solid-colored hijab on top..  there's one sis I know who did that with one that said 'mudd'.. and then she wore a bag that was mudd, and mudd jeans.. it was definitely distinctive :)

to halal-ize Indo/Pak fashion.. one thing I've seen sisters do is wear a scarf tied back bandanna style, and then pin the dupatta to the scarf in like three or four strategic places where you couldn't see.. so that it looks like it's 'naturally' flowing but is actually perfectly positioned to cover and look good :)  you can also have it sweep over you chest without getting all messed up every time you walk around.  this might look better and more 'together' than a a regular scarf pinned under your chin.

also for special occasions I've seen sisters wear a teeka with their hijab!  it looks cool, I think :)

more if I think of 'em, insha'Allah :)

is a 'teeka' the little dot thing that traditionally hindus wear?  i thought we weren't allowed to imitate the non-believers.

as salaamu alaykum,

a teeka is a piece of jewelry.. it's basically a short chain that you hook into your hair with a pendant type piece at the end, that rests in the center of your forehead..

hmm.. hard to explain.. here's a link that shows some indo/pak wedding styles, with many women wearing the 'teeka'...
