Assalaamu Alaikum brothers and sisters

I would just like to tell you all about the wonderful peaceful demonstration that took
place in London, England today. Estimates of about 2 million people marched to teh centre
of London to protest against the war on Iraq. Alhamdulilah it was amazing to see people of
all races, religions, and beliefs coming together for a common interest to stand up for
justice for humanity...... Alhamdulilah. Regardless of whether the bush-blair
adminstration listens or takes note of the protests that are going on in the world, it showed that
people are at least aware of the double standards of the western policies. This awareness
will increase inshallah until no longer can the west get away with murdering and
exploiting the devoloping world.

Speaches from George Gallaway, Tony Benn and Ken Livington were inspiring and showed that
regardless of which religion or belief or ideology you belong to, we all have a common
humanity and a duty to stand up for justice. Inshallah this march and the media coverage
that will go along with it will decrease the amount of islamophobia that is present today
in teh western world and inshalah will show to people who the real and true terrorists of
the world are (America and Britan) and exactly where this 'phobia' should lie.

Anyone else have any other thoughts, or did anyone else go to a demonstration?

Ken Lvingstone's speech was the best i think... he always knws how to capture the crowd n he always says somthing to show his support for palestine... the stuff he sed bout bush killd me "needed "daddys" help to get him out of national service..." lol
Bianca Jagger was there n Imran Khan n Tariq Ali (dnt knw the other 2 but my friend sed thats their names...)
...didnt see sheikh hamza yusuf...
also the guy with the poem n 2 last words... "resistence" and "resign"... im so sick of blair... i hope evry1 votes lib dem, coz after charles kennedy's speech (if thats his name... lol i dunno n i do politics btw) id rather hav him as my PM!

Allah be praised

Best rally I've ever been to, In an Islaamic sense spoke to many brothers from different places and above all spoke to hizbut tahrir brothers and for once we managed to agree on something.

Missed the speaches though, didn't get into hyde-park till 16:00, had to dive for a Mecca Cola!. Masha-allah good pr exercise they had.

We organised the event from start to finish so it was a bit stressful but Allah be praised just as the many people who don't remember him, we pulled it off and masha-allah some really positive stuff has been learnt.

More later.

I saw all of you on TV! I watched it on BBC.. then, its also on CNN... and even CNA (that's Channel News Asia).

It was even on the front page in our papers!

Subhanallah... now we've got the media up.. worldwide, inshaALlah.

P.S.  And to my surprise.. CNN actually showed this Romancing Singapore Festival.. I can't believe its actually news! ::)

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)

Unfortunately I couldn't make it yesterday but looking at the aerial pictures of the march was amazing.

The biggest march in London in history!!

As Sr Maria said in her post above, at least the leaders know that the public are aware of their double standards and the real reasons they wish to go to war.

If it wasn't for the French and the Germans we probably be at war already.

Well, I went a rally in Houston, 3,000 people there. I'd say only about maybe 200 muslims attended. 10,000 in our capital in Austin. In dallas, 2,000-5,000. Corpus Christi--500.

What were some of the interesting or funny posters and banners?

my all time fav: a man had this *huge* sign that said: "Stop the Bush it"  (It was one word but this forum wont' let me write it!)
and then my other favorite was: "Don't Worry Bush, Dad Will Still Love You."

and the third favorite was: "Preemptive Impeachment"

unfortunately i couldn't make the rally, but alhamdulillah the tv coverage on the news channels was quite good, and all day too, they also had an interview with Sheikh Hamza b4 he did his speech.

The only thing i was a bit annoyed/upset by was the fact that while they showed all the famous speakers they did not show many of the muslim speakers. :(

Some of my friends went and they were talking abt one sister giving a really good speach? n e one hear that?
