| how do u answer this. thanks. "You told me that "Islam is not a religion, it's a way of life", so when a Muslim (who evidently is taught to think that) has, or sees, problems with their way of life then it must be logical to assume the problem is with Islam. It's sounding more now like "Islam is not a religion but many different and sometimes conflicting ways of life"!" |

| [slm] problems of semantics here Islaam is a way of life to be practised , just thinking about it but not adhering to Islaam fully and then blaming Islaam dosent work . The ultimate goal of a muslim is the hereafter life in jannah to acheive it Allah swt puts every one through tests and tribulations in this world so that you can the least show Allah swt that you did ur best and this becomes a way/channel for his mercy (though he needs none) every one of us has been tested and what better example (in these days of eid u adha) than prophet Ibrahim peace be upon him and his tests and scarifises Its very easy to critique some thing without fully knowing it ( I must admit that I have done that some times too may allah swt forgive me) Well if you really want to know what Islam is you need to get involved with it and study it deeply without a prejudice Dear Anon I invite you /your friend to the fold of Islaam and see for yourselves May Allah swt bless you with his greatest gift-Ameen Jazakallah khair sr Kathy [wlm] |

| as salaamu alaykum, 'way of life' meaning you strive to live your life according to its teachings and understand what happens in life according to the islamic perspective. so in the case of bad things happening to you, as bro siddiqui mentioned.. you see them as a natural part of life, that you need to respond to with patience and courage, as islam teaches. wasalaam |

"think".... as in your head.... you have to get it out of your head and into your heart......... Practicing Islam will do that for you..... and make it so very easy....Islam as a way of life when you truly follow it........will support you in so many wonderful ways......... but it sounds like you might not be to that point......so if your serious...... make a relationship with Allah.... and pray. You cannot talk about Allah (God)...... under any religion and say "think" in the terms you stated above...... I'm sure you would go talk with a Christian (a believer) and the first thing they are going to start saying is "Faith", right. You have to start with the base. Islam...... quite simply in Arabic means..... "submission to Allah" So I would suggest.......start there...... in prayer.... if your truly serious. Ideally....... would be to follow ;-) Siddiqui's advice in practicing Islam while you are making your connection with Allah.... it will only help you..... in my opinion.
