Reflections on NYC rally
It was huge, it was powerful, and it was full of life…

With a massive crowd of lively, energetic and warm-hearted people, the cold streets of New York City were flaming yesterday, the heat of affection and the warmth of compassion exceeded the East Side River bitter zephyr. Departing from Albany-NY on Feb 15 2002, to testify in the face of history, and to mark the avenues of the capitol of the world, that we choose to say NO, Yes we choose to say NO to War, we choose to say NO to injustice, and we choose to say NO to the deceit of the elitists.

Our Voices were sound, our stance was firm, and our moral was at its climax. We were funneled, obstructed and barricaded, yet our masses rallied flexibly, creatively, and peacefully. Pens and barricades are not amongst our tools, and that is precisely why we remain stronger, our movement is humanitarian because it represents the peoples of the world. Our tools are debate, and democratic conversations.

This is the time to speak, to make another phone call, write another letter, stand in another rally. This is the time to march and, march again. Living in our own little world of personal problem is the selfish way to go. Every voice counts, and a small voice makes a big difference, now is the time to speak, now is the time to say NO

P.S. On March 1 2002, there will be a Massive rally in DC, Please let me know if you plan to go.

That's so awesome bro. We heard alot of the speeches on the radio on wrpi which was great. But you guys must have been absolutely frozen!!  alhamdulillah it gives me hope for so many things... one that non-muslims are understanding muslim causes through these protests and two muslims are working and connecting with sectors of this society they wouldn't normally be connected with like all these pro peace& justice people.. I think it's excellent learning for us and them!!

[slm],

The protests down here were awesome!

The one thing is that is connecting everybody with this war on Iraq, is that nobody REALLY wants to go to war. It does not matter if you support Bush's reason or not, nobody wants to see soliders or innocent people get hurt.

I bet everybody on this board knows somebody who is going, i have a friend who just left for Turkey. My dads co-worker is gone, my mother witnessed one lady cry for such a long time because her son is going. My sisters co-worker is gone...the list goes on and on. I pray for everybody's well being, and hope with all the people coming together whatever their beliefs are against any sort of war, Bush somehow realizes what he is doing.

A really good, short slide show of the recent protests around the world that was put together by Greens can be seen by clicking on the link below.  One shot shows the demo in Antarctica.

The worldwide protests really made an impact. I've been hearing about it on the news quite a bit and just yesterday they were quoting Bush's "response" to the protestors.  Now that I think it pretty impressive.  Good job guys :)
