Anyone have any new year's resolutions? I thought if I wrote them down publically it might force me into doing some stuff :D

Well this year I'd like to

1. Get a job that I enjoy
2. Spend some real time progressing in my Arabic
3. Focus on some quality community activities instead of quantity
4. Work on controlling negativity towards some people's actions ie US foreign policy, stupid ppl, negative dawah ppl
5. ....

hmm

Speaking of New Year's Resolutions, how are we all doing on all those Ramadan Resolutions we made back then? I still have two more Umrahs to perform!.. ;)

By the way, I see that there was not much of a sendoff for the Road to Makkah Forum...The roadblocks have been put up once again, not to be opened again for another year...sigh... :'(

;-)BrKhalid, looks like all we can do is just sit here and wait...unless you want to try to break down the barricades again...  :D

In the meantime, we may be all prevented physically from the Road to Makkah, but inshallah may our hearts make the journey to Allah's House each and every day...

1.  Focus.
2.  Stop complaining.
3.  Strengthen family ties.
4.  Find my element of reality...the one I've been craving...
5.  Calm down.

That's it.

Wasalaam.

Anyone else think about how HiMY's friends are going to starve if he serves them goldfish? ;-)

Forget a new Calendar, methinks you need an attorney to beat the goldfish rap you'll have on your hands!! ;)

InshaAllah with Summer just around the corner, my resolution is to pray in Jamat for 40 days in a row.

Something that was bothering me about this thread ever since I read it the first time.

I thought to say the following but I posted the above instead to lighten things up first.

New Year's Resolutions in  secular sense suggests that we can do anything we
     wish or want with willpower.

People of faith know this to be less true.
Rather, everything within creation is by the Will of God-Alone.

In conclusion, I humbly remind myself first and then anyone who cares,
that New Hijri Year's Resolutions become known as New Hijri Year's InshAllahs.

      What Think?

[sub]InshAllah, you all may agree, eh?[/sub]

- Verily, this (the Qur'ān) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamīn (mankind and jinns).

- To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight,

- And you will not, unless (it be) that Allāh wills, the Lord of the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

               Surah At-Takwir, 81st Surah, Aayaat 27, 28, 29.

Wassalam.
