Affirmation of Dawah Efforts

Just thought I would share this: It is from the Pastor of a Methodist Church we went to this past weekend.
Kathy:
Just a quick note to again thank you for the time that you and Mary spent with us on Sunday afternoon. I have received many wonderful affirmative messages from those that attended.

One was extremely telling on the positive reaction to your open and candid answers. Sadly, I had received an E-mail last week of a rather -hmmm  -- "condemning" and negative nature regarding Muslims and all "they" had done to "us".

Monday morning I received a message from that same person, who was there Sunday afternoon, saying that they thought "those who attended got their eyes opened, and those who were not there lost out on alot!"

Praise God! By the way, they have already started making plans for inviting you and Mary back again next year.

FYI - I did research the issue of hair being a crown of glory, and I will paste the response I sent via E-mail to the congregation at the bottom.
Thank you and may God continue to bless you and your ministry.

Last Sunday afternoon, during the discussion time with the ladies, Mary and Kathy, from the Islamic Awareness Center, a question was asked regarding why they "cover" and do not show their hair. This was raised because, as the  questioner queried, why would you hide your hair when the Bible refers to hair as a crown of glory. I was not familiar with hair being referred to as a crown, in the Bible, and did not address the question at that time. I have since researched this issue and have found the following, which I think is the passage that was being referred to. Proverbs 16:31 says: Gray hair is a crown of glory, it is gained in a righteous life." Please understand that this is a figurative reference, not literal. It means that if they have lived a righteous life, then in their older years when their hair is gray, it is like a crown.

It is similar to Proverbs 12:4
" A good wife is the crown of her husband." If the wife is a good wife and brings honor to her husband, she is like a crown to him. Crown is a word used figuratively many times in the Bible, and can be confusing. I hope this explanation helps. The Islamic women are not hiding their crowns of glory by "covering".
