www.mpacuk.org Pro-war British Labour MP challenges Muslims to unseat her She's a woman, she's Jewish and she was voted in my thousands of Muslims. Now she backs the war..and tells a packed mosque audience she dares them to vote her out if they dont like it. Over twenty stinking Mosques fail to take her on in the most populous Muslim constituency in the UK. However one of them finally has..... London, March 1, -- Labour MP Oona King has challenged the most populous Muslim consistency in Britain to unseat her for voting for the government's hardline stance against Iraq, according to The Muslim News. "You can vote me out at the next elections. It is your right to do that," King said when confronted by Shafir Rahman, a trustee at East London mosque, why she did not respect the wishes of her constituents and vote against the government's policy. The East London Mosque was the only Mosque in the area to take her on and we give it credit for that. It must be one of the most pioneering Mosques in the UK. But will they now launch a campaign or let her get away with it? The contempt for her Muslim constituents was further highlighted as MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, along with her Labour colleague Jim Fitzpatrick in the adjacent constituency of Poplar and Canning Town, refused to back an anti-war amendment supported by 199 MPs during last Wednesday's vote on the Iraq crisis. Both who have massive Muslim populations. Ignorant Muslims who dont understand the political system were not even seen as a credible threat by any of these MP's who amazingly rely on their votes for their jobs! How pathetic "Kill our brothers we will still elect you, and give you a salaray of over £60,000 to do it again!" 2001 General Election result: VOTES % Lab 19,380 50.38 LD 5,946 15.46 Tory 9,323 24.23 Oths 3,821 9.93 Total 38,470 Majority 10,057 (26.14 %) Present holder: Lab King was confronted about her voting while attending a reception on Friday at the mosque in Whitechapel. According to the newly produced results of the 2001 Census, the area of Tower Hamlets has a 36.7 percent Muslim population of 71,383, the highest in the UK. She claimed that MPs should not always follow the masses of the people all the time. She used the example of people marching in support of capital punishment and asked 'how can I support them?' The Labour MP claimed that she voted against the government, when it condemned Iraq's refusal to comply with its UN obligation in 1998, despite being approached by Labour whips. But this is not borne out by Hansards, which suggests that she may have abstained as it does not list her name as one of the 24 Labour rebels. Many Muslims at Whitechapel mosque criticized her for disregarding the views of her constituents. Some believed that she was arrogant, winning by a majority of 10,057 at the last election, but suggested it was not an insurmountable task for Muslims to unseat her. Chairman of East London Mosque Fund, Abdul Bari, said he was'disappointed with the lack of articulation of the people Oona King represents. We are disappointed with both the MPs'. Community activist, Junaid Ahmed warned that Muslims would 'not vote for a party that supports injustice' and said it was one of the issues that will be considered at the next general election. "We were shocked and surprised with the logic she supported the government. She did not listen to her constituents," So what can you do ?
