[slm] Here's a question for you guys. What was the name of the sahabi who would occasionaly get drunk and would be brought before the Prophet (S) for his punishment? The Prophet (S) would order him beaten. (Lightly beaten, not black eyes or anything like that). One day a sahabi asked the Prophet (S) to invoke Allah's curse on him becuase he would not stop his drinking. And the Prophet (S) replied that he would not do that becuse he knows how much he (sahabi with drinking problem) loved Allah and him, i.e. the Prophet. |

As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah, Is this a "quiz"? Or do you need the name? His full name is somewhere in the 2-volume book, "Companions of the Prophet" (I'd check for you if I still had it), and if I'm thinking of the right person, he was also known as a "prankster." -------------- Found it online, here. -------------- This post has been modified, since sis amatullah is right about the name issue. |

[wlm] wa rahmatullah wa barkatuh forgive me sisters but I really don't think it is right to do this. In many instances the Muslim historians and the scholars will leave out the name of the companion who did a mistake as having adab and not doing gheeba as well. You can relate the useful parts but should not focus on Who the person is. THere are many examples. like the one who went to the prophet about his neighbour not leaving him enough water. They left out the names on purpose. |
