What would be the *pitch* (Place) to talk to Prospective Partner (i.e. in the presence of the parents) without causing/feeling much embarassment to either parties?  ???

The place my almost hubby and I choose was at the lakeside (Chicago Planetarium, for those who know the area) Our Muharram was close enough...but far enough away... and behind us...

It was a good spot...and in retrospect...now a romantic spot....well for me...men, not sure if they "get" this!

Assalamu 'alaikum,

What's so embarrasing in going to prospective partner's house, or calling them at urs? I think, to visit each other's house is the best thing to do.

             U mean "Mahram", right? :)

Ha Ha!  :P I keep asking Jannah for a spell check!

I should have added I was a single woman on her own with family out of town... hence the lake spot!

I think the best place is at each other's homes. That way you get to see how the person behaves at his "home turf" and also gives an idea to his relationship with his family.
I am speaking to a prospective partner and our families are taking turns inviting one another to each other's homes. To rephrase what Sis. Kathy said.....Our parents are close at hand...but some distance away. That way our families are getting to know each other and so are we. It's working well so far.....Alhamdolillah.
