halal and non-halal vaccination

before i went to makkah, i took meningitis quadravalent and influenza vaccinations. the meningitis was a prerequisite but influenza was optional. i took influenza as well since i am prone to flu.

i told a friend from UK about those vaccinations and i was shocked to learned what he told bout those vaccinations. he said i shouldnt go for those vaccinations cause they are bad not only for myself but even the generations after me. i told him that our government recommended those vaccinations and made one of them prerequisite and also guaranteed they are halal.

there were doubts about the halal status of meningitis earlier but later our health ministry and government clarified there are few types of meningitis vaccinations and we bought only halal ones. the halal status was confirmed through medias even by local islamic association. but this guy questioned me that i shouldn't believe everything the government said and moreover they own the medias so i shouldnt believe the medias as well.

though i cannot undo the vaccinations since i took them earlier but i kept wondering what been told by him. i just think its really tough if i cannot rely on informations published in the medias given by the health ministry, government and also islamic association. as far as the muslims in my country, we believe the vaccination is halal but hearing such things from someone outsider ... could he be right?

jazakallah khair for any feedbacks

assalamu alaikum
Allahu a'lam, but if vaccinations were bad for us and for generations afterwards, we'd all be in pretty bad shape.  First of all, what's the backup, and how could anyone know if they're bad for generations afterwards since they're not here yet to be studied???
Also, if the gov't said they were halal, you'll just have to believe them and trust them since there's nothing else for you to do cause like you said they can't be undone, and if they weren't, then it's the gov't that'll be held accountable.  The burden of truth is on them.  Why wouldn't they tell the truth anyway?
Insha Allah I hope you don't wonder and worry about it too much, dont' get paranoid :) ;)

Just a quick reply, b/c my exam is on friday (quick, make a little dua for me that i pass!), but coming off my peds rotation, one thing i have learned is that vaccinations are INCREDIBLY important!

#1 I really really really wished i had gotten my flu shot, b/c, yup, i got the flu

#2 we don't really see a lot of the illnesses that vaccines prevent, like mumps, rubella, measles, diptheria, polia, tetanus, and be glad you don't! they are really bad illnesses and people forget how bad they are and how many kids end up in the hospital and how many people actually die. Like w/ chicken pox, people DIE every year from this illness! it's not just a pesky itchy rash.

#3 the people who die from these illnesses or at least have to stay in the hospital is b/c they were exposed to all those people out there who don't vaccinate their kids. Some kids are immunocompromised for whatever reason and can't always be vaccinated.

so to sum up vaccines are important. i'll try and provide some more scientific info after friday inshallah.

Don’t really feel like posting but since this comes under my purview of my studies thought will lend a thought or two

1) When some one says it is halal is it permissible to have shak or shuba (mistrust/ distrust)

2) Meningitis a communicable(transmitted to others) has been a problem during Hajj, There is a congregation of Tons of people  many have died because of meningitis .This readily preventable ( Allah swt prevents through the way of a vaccine) has been a source of problem because people do not vaccinate themselves.

3) BY MISTRUSTING A HALAL VACCINE AND NOT TAKING IT IS TANTAMOUNT TO PUTTING THE LIFE OF OTHER MUSLIMS IN DANGER AND BEING A ZARIYAH OF THEIR DEATH.
ANY BODY WILLING TO TAKE THIS RISK?
HOW WILL SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE THAT ANSWER ALLAH SWT IN THE AAKHIRAH?
WONT IT COME IN THE WAY OF HAJJ-E-MABROOR?

Just wanted to add that there have been times I have been rude/made fun of other folks on the board. Please forgive me for the sake of Allah swt
