| [center] [img]http://www.albany.edu/~msa/banner.jpg[/img] Every evening in the first week of April, the Muslim Students Association at SUNY Albany is hosting events dedicated to discussing different and often misunderstood aspects of the religion of Islam. These events are open to anyone and everyone interested in learning a bit more about Islam and Muslims. All are welcome, Bring a friend! Refreshments will be served! A table will be set up in the Campus Center Lobby each day of Islam Awareness Week. Feel free to stop by with any questions you may have and/or to read some info about Islam. We will have henna or calligraphy done for you to keep, or just stop by to enjoy some of our tasty snacks!! With peace, the Muslim Students Association @ SUNYA *** I S L A M * A W A R E N E S S * W E E K *** *** MONDAY 3/31 *** "Jihad: Inner Struggle or Holy War?" The word 'jihad' is often times associated with violence in the name of religion. Find out the real meaning of jihad with noted speaker Dr. Mokhtar Magharoui. 7PM in LC-25 Refreshments will be served! *** TUESDAY 4/1 *** "Islam Unveiled: What it Means to be a Muslim Woman" A panel discussion with Muslim women from all walks of life. Questions and discussion on womens' rights, dress, status, and role in Islam. 7PM in LC-19 Refreshments will be served *** WEDNESDAY 4/2 *** "Islamic Law & the Modern World" With guest speaker Dr. Ingrid Mattson This event will take place at the Hubbard Interfaith Sanctuary at St. Rose College. We will have a carpool leaving at 6:30 PM from Collins Circle. *** THURSDAY 4/3 *** "Pathways to Peace: How Five Americans Came to Islam" American Muslims tell the stories of their journey to converting to Islam. With discussion and questions. 7PM in LC-24 Refreshments will be served *** FRIDAY 4/4*** Friday Prayer & Movie Attend the special Muslim prayer and sermon on Fridays, called 'Jummah'. With guest speaker Imam Djaffar Sebkhaoui. After, we will be watching the documentary "Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet" over lunch :) 12:30PM in Campus Center 375 Lunch will be served *** SATURDAY 4/5*** Poetry Slam - Rhymes with a Muslim Flava :) Professor Java's @ 7 PM 217 Wolf Rd, Albany *** EVERY DAY *** Resources, Info, Henna, Calligraphy Design & Snacks at our table in the Campus Center everyday from 10am to 4pm!
