does anyone here play Squash?

I used to play a lot when i was a kid and I've started playing again,

what are the rules to squash? My dad was telling there are like 3 different types of squash balls, yellow, red and blue? I'm playing with a yellow ball, it barely has any bounce to it but its definatly a good work out hitting it back and forth.

Wa'alaikum Assalam wa Rahmatullah,

I think its called Racquet ball here in States, or is that different? I haven't played squash much but I like it. I am a big time table tennis (known as Ping pong here) fan. As for the rules and tips on squash, check out this: http://squashclub.org/main/e-lessons/

Assalamo elikuim

Well in the days of my youth I used to play squash. It has been a loooong time but I think the color of the balls tells how bouncy(fast) it is (i think ) :)

I can’t believe I didn’t find the “Ikhwan health Club” until now…great section!

I play. There is a distinct difference between squash and racquetball…specifically the ball. The squash ball is much smaller, and softer. It bounces far less. Blue balls bounce the most, and double-yellow the least. Double-yellow is the best! There is a lot more running in squash, and it is a tougher anaerobic activity.

I love it! I took it up as cross training in the off season (I play soccer in a premier armature league out here- www.fraservalleysoccer.com ). The workout is great. You’re constantly sprinting, turning, and thinking on your feet. I now use squash to supplement my in-season training…especially when I find I’m struggling with my quickness on the pitch. A couple of games of squash brings that right back…the ability to beat an opponent to a 50/50 ball, or to pounce on a scoring opportunity or good read.

I highly recommend to anyone who’s looking for a good, safe sport to take up squash. One hour a couple of times / week will do wonders for your fitness and soul!  ;D

I prefer single yellow dot. Double yellow is too slow! blue and red dots are usually used by girls cuz u dont have to hit as hard.

Yeah, but it gives you more options and makes the game tougher. You can either make a nice drop shot, or blow it by a guy. It means you have to hold centre court better, and be on your toes to react to any situation.

I find I do way more running on double yellow, and I'm completely spent after playing for one hour.

Great game, no matter which way you look at it!

Double yellow is definatly a lot of work. Blue and red and are too bouncy, so i might go to single yellow.

I see all the pros playing around with double yellow though ...
