Looking for Quran verse?

Hi  I'm a student at the Virginia Commonwealth
University. I am a major in animation, and one of my projects for the end of
the semester was a piece on fear and anxiety and its irrationality. I'd like
to use a verse from the Q'ran to illustrate the contrast of its peaceful
teachings with the misconceptions many Americans have of Islam, especially
after 9/11. I was wondering if there is a specific verse that you'd think
would be particularly good to use, preferably something specific to peace
and understanding of others, and if there is an orator that is especially
vivid in its recitation. I'll appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks again.

Hi,
Wow, I for one appreciate what you're doing.
The first verses that came to mind are some verses from the 49th surah of the Qur'an, Al Hujurat, translated as "The Chambers".
Here's the translation by Yusuf Ali (verses 10-13):

-The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that ye may receive Mercy.

-O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: It may be that the (latter are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong.

-O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it...But fear Allah: For Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

-O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

I also appreciate what your doing.

Here is one that makes 9/11 clearly unislamic.

Who so ever kills a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he has killed all mankind, and who so ever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind," (Al-Ma'dah:32).

Qur’an[76:8-9]: "And they feed, for the love of Allah, the poor, the orphan, and the captive,-  Saying,"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks."

Qur'an 2:177
It is not righteousness
That ye turn your faces toward East or West;
But it is righteousness -
To believe in Allah (God)
And the Last Day
And the Angels
And the Book
And the Messengers;
To spend of your substance out of love for Him
For your kin
For orphans
For the needy
For the wayfarer
For those who ask,
And for the ransom of slaves;
To be steadfast in prayer
And practice regular charity;
To fulfil the contracts which ye have made;
And to be firm and patient in pain (or suffering) and adversity
And throughout all periods of panic.
Such are the people of truth the Allah-fearing (God-conscious).
