Muslims, wake up and smell the warning!!

I think this war is horrible, and yet I look at all those celebrating the fall of Saddam and think hard...

Saddam ruled for how long?  And how long did we (we Muslims) know about what he did to our brothers and sisters in Iraq?  What did we do to stop it, to end the terrible suffering of our brothers and sisters?  Did we follow the words in the Qur'an:

004.075 And why should ye not fight in the cause of God and of those who, being
weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is:
"Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for
us from the
e one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!"

Did we know what was happening to the Iraqis by Saddam's regime or didn't we?  How many years did we know, how many decades?

Why did the US get to take advantage of the situation in Iraq that would ultimately benefit the US?  Isn't it because they decided to attack Saddam and his regime while we chose not to?

Where is our army? our soldiers? our military?  Where are the ones who are physically joining together to fight the oppressed?

Many Iraqis are cheering and happy and excited about the fall of Saddam, they are shouting there cries of joy to the US and the coalition forces... they seem to be taking them as auliyas--but then again.. why wouldn't they?  They would be crying for joy if an army of Islamic men and even women were fighting for them... but it never happened... these people suffered horrendously and the US and Britain seem to be the ones giving them a freedom from Saddam.  Who knows what is going to happen in the future now?  We will all be very skeptical of everything the US does over there but we know for sure that the US and Britain is going to profit BIG from all of this.  But you know what?  They did it because they could.  The Iraqis don't see their Muslim brothers and sisters liberating them, they see the US and Britain fighting and dying.  I don't think they are really thinking about what is going to happen in the future right this moment.  For the first time in decades they are tasting a freedom unimaginable to them. They are just so overjoyed with the fall of Saddam.

Now, I'm not saying that I am for the war or anything like that.. NO!!  Look at all the innocent ones that died... all those children.  Look at all the destruction. Look at all the things we can think of other than for the benefit of the Iraqis the "Coalition forces" are fighting for...

This is more like a warning:  we must fight for ourselves or others will take advantage of the situation and fight "for us" for all the wrong reasons.

Thank you sis.  That's exactly how I feel.  I was just unable to fortify it into words.

It should never have come to this, and we should now, once and for all, take charge so that it never happens again.  Insha Allah.

Wasalaam.

Good points Ameera.  But look at what happened in Afghanistan.  The Taleban came together to stop the massive rapes that were going on in Afghanistan against women.  And they succeeded in defeating the perpretators of those rapes, and in fact took over the whole country.  Now granted, they were over-zealous in their strict application of Shariah, but did anyone - muslim or non-muslim - give them credit for fighting for "those who, being weak, are ill-treated" ? No, the whole muslim ummah just pariahed them. And I don't know the status of women in Afghanistan now, but I'm sure it's less safer than it was when the Taliban were there.

So what's the point? The one time in recent history where the real muslims have done what you are suggesting has lead to condemnation from the muslims themselves! Sure, the situation in Afghanistan is more complicated than this, but do you see the point ?

Another case in point are the mujaheeden who were fighting in Kashmir to defend the VERY opressed Kashmiris from the opression of the Indian army.  What was their reward ? To be officially labelled "terrorists" by the USA and the UK.

Saddam was not attacked because "people in glass houses don't throw stones".  All the countires around Iraq are run by dictators, so they have nothing to gain by getting rid of one of their own kind : they will be asking for the same treatment themselves.

As you can see, the muslim world is in a VERY screwed up state politically.  Those who have the courage to fight for their convictions are condemended.  While the USA, which is fighting for world dominance, is praised.

Salaams,

Excellant post Sis Ameera, as one sister put it...
I think we should take a lesson from these events. These were calculated and planned historical events. How is it that people predicted this war with Iraq within months after 9/11.. how they described how everything was in place and described exactly what was going to happen/has happenned.

We should be people of thinking and understanding. Other's plan 50 years ahead of time for OUR destruction. We need to take a page from their book and start thinking and planning as well.
This is what we need to do. Why is it that we talk less of what you have said and more on other matters. We really do need to move beyond talk about hijaab and beard, we need to focus more on education, human rights and advancement of civilisation within the context of Islaam.
Anyway I didn't have time to thank Jannah for her post, simply outstanding, may you teach others with your understanding of dawah and guide others to the true light of Islaam. My only wish, I hope to see others thinking like you, maybe you could add some on-line dawah courses?.

Salaams

Saddam ruled for how long?

24 years.

Before saddam, it was another dictator, general. Saddam shot him with the help of the CIA and the CIA said now you can be the dictator.

I agree with some of your sentiments Ameera

USA was planning on attacking Iraq for a long time. The war council (Cheney, Rice, Bush and Wolfowitz plus Khalilzad) had this plan from 5 years ago. Khalilzad in his famous article mentions that those who control the oil fields will rule the world.
Now this control doesn't mean military control. It's enough to have a friendly govn'ts over there in the middle east. The situation in the middle east is completely unstable. We can compare it to an unstable object that a pushing finger can make it fall.

The real cause of unstability in the region is the fact that the govn't over there are not represented by people. there is a possibility of uprising there and the winners will be islamists. The experience in Turkey showed that if americans leave people in the region to walk towards democracy by themselves, americans won't benefit and islamist will be the winners.

To let the democratization take its time in the middle est was not an option. So they decided to bring about a change that is favourable to them. Democracy won't be a problem to USA as long as it is installed by USA.

Those who think USA is thinking of stealing oil are wrong. USA does not need to steal oil. The main point is to secure the economical future of USA and west in general. Oil can be used as a pressure on western economy and as a tool it is the only thing arabs and muslilms have.

Friendly govn'ts in middle east will be the key to secure the world's economy. USA is preparing for the real fight against China and for that matter she is looking for friends in the middle east (the main energy source) and that can help her in future.

Dominance is not what americans want. they just want their current situation to be maintained but in future with the presence of China, USA is troubled.

the best strategy for muslims is to accompany USA in this struggle for power in the world. Israeilis are the ones who fear this the most. by being friendly to americans, muslims can bring about changes in foreign policy in US and the mutual relationship between americans and muslims can be extremely beneficial to both sides.
