What is the Tree of Hope?

Salaam,

This was a really good suggestion by a fellow Madinite.

Also I think in place of the "Hijrah Way" you should bring back the "Tree of Hope" forum..I think people should  try to channel all that negative energy and frustration into somehing positive and constructive. Muslims like to argue and complain a lot (myself included) but many of us do nothing about it. So I am hoping in the Tree of hope forum we will have more threads like Uncle Hanif's (What is your community doing) and posts like Himy's recent reflections. A place were we all can inspire and give each other hope in these times of despair.

[slm],

This is a really great idea!  :)

I have been sooo sad these past few weeks about everything around me, i think this will defintely help everyone.

We all can get out on the sofas and sip from our hot mugs and talk about life and grow together inshallah.

It is a Palm tree, the only tree in the dessert. Underneath it men in white robes are sitting, and speaking in soft voices. There are camels roaming about nearby. There is the call of a bird in the hot, vast sky which reminds the men that there's water nearby. An ant bites one of the men, who gently brushes it away and tells his companions of a hadith he's reminded of.

He couldn't remember the exact hadith, so he summed it up as best as he could. An ant bit a man (a Prophet, perhaps?) who noticed that there was an ant's nest nearby. He destroyed the ant's nest and Allah said to him, that destroying all the ants was not necessary, they all did not bite him. Just one did.

Ok, you guys want to turn into a round robin?

The tree of hope....

Yeah, I palm tree.

Wtih the breeze blowing serenely, a place to reflect.

A place to turn back to Allah, the teachings of the Qur'an and the sunnah of the Prophet  [saw].

A place to stock of what we are doing wrong.

A place to where we finally admit that we have deviate from the right path.

A place to where we transcend our petty differences as Muslims and make resolutions to unite as one.

A place where we learn from our mistakes.

A place where we can take the bad and turn it around to our advantage.

A place where the educated, the sheikhs and ulummas will stop looking down their nose at those who have no knowledge or do not have enough knowledge and lead them by example.

A place where Muslims in Europe and North America realize that they still have obligations to the rest of the Umma and thus put their energies towards a positive forward movement for all Muslims regardless of where they are.

A place where we collectively make a strong commitment to stop being defensive and have the patience the Rasulullah  [saw] had.

A place where we use the little or more we have for the common good of all Muslims starting from where are.  Charity begins at home.

A place where we accept our different heritages and convert these to forge a strong Muslim Umma.

A place where we defend Islam with wisdom and understanding.

A place where we fight the type of jihad that is not violent, discriminative, subjective and self-destructive.

A place where we build strong Islamic instutitions that defy our detractors and turn them to be our strongest supporters.

A place where we stop being self indulgent, we stop being reactive, stop emotional but instead become proactive and build the momentum to move forward and uphold that momentum.

A place where we are strong enought to critisize ourselves constructively, deal with oppressors from among the Muslim countries and where we empower nationals of those countries to have the right to choose their own rulers.

A place where we do not defend defective rulers just because they are Muslims.

A place we acknowledge that we have to coexist with the rest of humanity with compromising Islam and our dignity.

Yes indeed, THE TREE OF HOPE, THE TREE OF FAITH, THE TREE OF COURAGE, THE TREE OF TRUTH and THE TREE OF JUSTICE, THE TREE OF PROGRESS, THE TREE OF ACTION, THE TREE OF UNDERSTANDING, THE TREE OF CHANGE, THE TREE OF PROFOUND LEGACY and most IMPORTANTLY, THE TREE OF UNITY, INSHA-ALLAH!

Guys, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but it's an Acacia tree.  Yup!  That's what it is.  Now now, I know acacias are ugly to look at, and they feel prickly when you touch them....but they provide the bestest shade EVER.  And under an acacia tree the breeze blows stronger, and the shade is more complete.  So, all of us can escape the unbearable heat and cool down under the tree.

You know, the Acacia grows in places where they don't have much rainfall, and it can survive SEVERE heat as well as SEVERE cold. It's really very cool.

And if 1) I could find the picture and 2) I could figure out how to post it here...I will show you the BEST use for an acacia tree.  (It's actually a really funny picture...oh and there aren't any people in it.)

Nah! It is a palm tree.  We do not need total shade, just glimpses of it.  Because if we become too comfortable under the acacia tree, we fall back into complacency and we become self indulgent.  Whereas the palm tree keep our forward moment going plus it is not a picnic climbing it.

Shukran.
